Greenfield Village

One day we went to Greenfield Village.  Luckily I have two very awesome friends who got all of us in for free with their memberships!  I have wanted to come back here but I never felt brave enough to tackle it on my own.

Scarlett all ready to go, purse and backpack!  That's my girl!
About the village...
Entering Greenfield Village is like stepping into an 80-acre time machine. It takes you back to the sights, sounds and sensations of America’s past. There are 83 authentic, historic structures, from Noah Webster’s home, where he wrote the first American dictionary, to Thomas Edison’s Menlo Park laboratory, to the courthouse where Abraham Lincoln practiced law. The buildings and the things to see are only the beginning. There’s the fun stuff, too. In Greenfield Village, you can ride in a genuine Model T or “pull” glass with world-class artisans; you can watch 1867 baseball or ride a train with a 19th-century steam engine. It’s a place where you can choose your lunch from an 1850s menu or spend a quiet moment pondering the home and workshop where the Wright brothers invented the airplane. Greenfield Village is a celebration of people — people whose unbridled optimism came to define modern-day America.
When we first got there Scarlett wanted to throw a  penny in the fountain.  But first she looked at it and said "Look it has trolley [from Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood] on one side and Jesus on one side!"  Apparently we don't know anyone with a beard except Jesus.

I asked these girls to pretend to be chickens.

"that's a crazy bike, mom!"

The ducks were a huge hit with these gals.

Lunch time.  I just realized that Laura took this photo right when Scarlett had a potty accident.  haha!  Poor girl was so distraught (we haven't had one in awhile).  But between playing in the water and the hot sun, she was back to normal in no time.  Except for her shoes... those things stunk so bad.  I finally had to throw them in the washing machine.

A cool old-timey play ground.  "Uncle James that's too high!"

Riding the merry go round.  Hailey and Kaylie on the outside, James and Scarlett on the inside.  Side note, the frog in this photo is a really rare piece.  I've heard it's worth half a million dollars.  I'm not sure if that's true, but they put the picture of the frog on all their marketing materials.

Frozen custard!

On the train.  Can you spot them through the trees?

Looks like a blast. I seriously can't believe how much you all got out and did while your helpers were there!
