When James was in town he and Jake gave Scarlett a blessing of healing and comfort for her "bumps". They've been driving her crazy. She was so reverent when they placed their hands on her head. Afterward she gave them all hugs then they left. She told me very quietly "they gave me a drop of oil." I think she really understood that it was a special and reverent moment.
I finally decided to just give her benadryl every night cause when I didn't she would wake up at 3 am. Every time. The disadvantage is that it always makes her really whiney the next day. But after weeks of being on it, she's getting more used to it. I asked our pediatrician what she thought of this method, she agreed with me and even suggested hydroxyize if she needs it during the day. Luckily during the day they don't seem to bother her as much.
We've been to the dermatologist 4 or 5 times now. The first time they treated like 40ish bumps, the next time she counted over 90! Poor girl! They spread down her side and right leg plus a bunch down her right arm. Then the next treatment was for 30ish, then 20ish. So now we're moving in the right direction. The dermatologist puts Cantharidin on each bump then I wash it off after 1 hour. This past time she also put Squaric Acid on all the affect skin. We've also started putting Atrolin (an acne cream) on the skin every few nights. Our goal with all these treatments is to irritate the skin enough to trigger the immune system response. The bumps are so mild that the body doesn't try to fight them off. So even though these treatments make the skin look so painful, that's the goal. I'm hoping that she'll just catch a fall cold - cause often when the body is fighting off an infection it will just take care of the molluscum at the same time.
Scarlett has a bunch of little red bumps on her cheek. The Dermatologist said it's a very common rash - it affects a lot of people. Cheeks for little kids and often upper arms for adults. It's called Keratosis Pilaris. She said she will grow out of it, but keeping it moisturized will help it when it's flared up.
The waiting room changed they're blocks to new blocks that aren't painted. I didn't even notice, but Scarlett asked the receptionist where the colorful blocks went. She told her they just got rid of them and she was the first one to use the new ones. I was so impressed at her observation and memory skillzz!
When the Dermatologist was putting on the medicine last time, Scarlett just kept point to her own nipples and saying "boobies! boobies!" haha! I was laughing so hard. At least she was in a good mood instead of terrified and screaming.
