2015 Ford Mustang GT & 2014 Shelby GT 500

Jake was able to bring some sweet cars home while James and Hailey were in town.  The best part?  I finally got to ride in one!  So far every work car he's brought home I've been able to sit in and admire but never ride.  Something about leaving our children unattended blah blah blah.  Anyways, with the extra supervision, I got to go for a spin.  It was magnificent!  When we were driving the convertible some little kids yelled "awesome car!"  "cool!"  And when we were driving the 2015 Mustang there was a guy driving behind us taking photos of the car!  Crazy!  The torque curve felt smooth and the acceleration was literally breath taking.  So fun!

Instead of a plastic lock/unlock switch there is just a red light that tells you if the door is locked.  Push button start.  Sleek design.
I didn't realize that I moved while taking the panorama til just now, otherwise I would have tried it again, but you get the main idea.

A few months ago Jake helped with a Ford documentary.  His job was to stay with the camera crew as their official escort.  He basically just hung out and ate the catered snacks.  During one of the B-roll footage shots the director needed someone to be in the background, pretending that they were working.  He looked over and saw Jake's bright teal shirt and decided that he was perfect.  So Jake sat at the table and pretended to be a designer for the shot.  After they made him sign a bunch of papers and even took a headshot!  See if you can spot him....

hint: look at 1:48 - it's really fast, you'll probably have to pause the video to see him.

Then the other day I noticed there was a bunch of hits on our blog.  They were coming from this source: http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php/black-2015-mustang-1337p11.html?s=acbc5a5f5b0ffe39eea8437071dd0bb5& scroll down half way-ish to entry #189.  This Mustang forum is actually one that a lot of the Mustang team at Ford check often.  They look at this site to see what information has been leaked to the public.  And a photo from our blog made it on their site!  How random.  And kind of creepy!

So, could you please explain the difference between those two cars? I believe the Shelby is a trim package on the Mustang, but I kind of don't really know and I feel dumb when I read your blog now.

I suppose you could think of the Shelby as a trim package. We basically license the Shelby name then do a lot of performance upgrades to the car. The main difference is how much power it has, 662 horsepower. To give a frame of reference... our Mazda Protege that we learned to drive in had 120 horsepower and your Suburban has around 350ish. Actually, in 2013 and 2014 the Shelby GT500's 662hp was the most out of any production V8 engine.

The 2015 Mustang GT is our all new Mustang. The GT means it has a V8 engine and nice suspension. It has 435hp and the engineers used a Porsche 911 and BMW M3 as performance benchmarks at the track.
