Scarlett is really into doing her "makeup" these days. Most of the time I let her use fancy lotions that don't leave a mess, but sometimes I let her play with the lip gloss and eye shadow. I even let her wear mascara once! She was so happy! Oh my. I'm happy that she loves to be girly, but I also think it's important for little girls to be little girls.
I just love her varying interests. She wears her Frozen shirt and loves wearing her princess socks. But right now she only wants to watch Bob the Builder and she's really into her train set.
"Let's take your curlers out." "No! I want to leave them in all day! They're beautiful!"
Santa gets all the credit for gifts around here. We purposely didn't make the "big" gift from him this past Christmas, but it wouldn't have even mattered. Cause he gets the credit for everything. Including stuff we just bought, together, at the store: "Santa got me this windmill". Really? He did? Can he bring me a Tylenol and a Diet Pepsi?
This is her favorite bath time style.
I started belting out Bohemian rhapsody in the kitchen one day: "Mama oooooo." Then Scarlett started singing "I don't want you to cry..." haha! Very close to the right lyrics! Queen win! Then in the car sometimes she'll ask for the "bicycle song" from Queen - another win (except I don't let her hear where they take the Lord's name in vain.)
She's been waking up early and getting herself food. She'll get an apple from the fridge and use the bathroom sink to wash it off before she eats it. haha! Jake will often get her cereal and turn a show on for her before he leaves. The other day I came downstairs and found this, glad Marshall was able to help her and dad work on the puzzle.
"Mom, I had good dreams last night. I dreamed I flyed!"
Scarlett: "Are tornadoes going to ruin our house?"
Me: "No, they are in Kansas and we live in Michigan."
S: "How do we get to Kansas? On the road?"
M: "The free way."
S: "Which way is that?"
M: "East. That way." -- I love her inquisitive mind, but it takes forever to explain anything!
I told her that her shoes were on the wrong feet. So she crossed her legs and said "I fixed it. Ta da!"
We've been trying to be better about scripture reading with Scarlett. That basically involves looking through one chapter of the Book of Mormon picture book. You don't realize how violent some of the stories are until you're trying to explain them to your 3 year old. I just skim over those parts and try to focus on the principles. Making good choices, trusting in the Lord, obeying parents, obeying parents, obeying parents, etc. :-)
Dressing herself:
Scarlett: what is power?
Me: "Energy over time:
S: "I need more power."
M: "Well, you can increase your energy or decrease the time you're using it. How could you increase your energy?"
S: "Eat healthy food and get lots of sleep?"
M: "Yes!!! And then you'll have more power!"
We might have a little enginerd on our hands! :-)
Scarlett's prayer at lunch one day: "... and thank you for mom's pot pie from Sam's Club..."
Scarlett told me: "I have air in my bum." hahaha!
Almost every time we read a story Scarlett will ask "where is their Mom and their Dad and their babies?"

I'm super impressed with her makeup skills! Just tell her the air in her bum is from her father's side. It's cute now, but will grow into a curse.
