We usually make French Toast every conference morning. This time I tried something new: French Toast Casserole. Winner! It was so much easier and took less time in the kitchen.
We ate lots of treats, the girls came up with a creative way to eat their Fruit by the Foot.
Lots of balloon fun!
Forts and games!
Jake came up with this game: a bowl of M&Ms under the TV. We would pick a key word (based on the first few min of the talk) and when the girls heard the word they could go up and eat one. It helped them listen to the talks. The game worked for like ten or fifteen minutes before they ate them all and moved on to something else. They are lucky because the first talk we played this game with we picked the word "Holy Ghost" and it came up like every few seconds!
Remember when Scarlett thought that Grumple looked like Pres. Uchtdorf? I was curious if the twirls would think that too. So when Pres. Uchtdorf came on the screen I recorded the twirls:
I thought this was cute, Siena kept getting excited when she heard the word "temple" all on her own!
The girls were pretty good the whole time. Ya, they might have watched a little cartoon here and there, but Jake and I got the spiritual recharging that we needed. I really liked the message "I was a stranger, and ye took me in." I wish I took notes because there were other spiritual gems I really loved. As Jake and I reread them over the next few months I will share the things that I loved.
Yes, the first week in April we were graced with snow! Big, fluffy snowflakes. Crazy Michigan weather!
At the end of the Sunday Afternoon session Jake and I were talking about our vanilla ice cream and root beer that we were going turn into delicious floats. Literally minutes later Elder Holland said this: "...I am the only person standing between you and the ice cream you always have ready at the close of general conference...." No way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Look at all these lounging ladies! Siena made her daddy proud by "driving" her little dirt bike.
We took advantage of the weekend at home to unpack all our baby stuff. "Nesting!" I think it helped the girls understand a little more of what is in store for them. I forgot how much gear a baby takes!
This evening Jaide got out of the shower and almost fell asleep on the floor! I decided to rock her in the rocking chair since we have it all set up now for baby. She was so cute! I took her back to her bed and Scarlett asked me "when do we got alone time to rock with you?" how sweet! So I ended up rocking her and Siena as well. Everyone just needed mommy snuggles that night.
Scarlett kept needing to go pee very urgently every few minutes and even had a potty accident in her bed (uncommon). So we ended up at InstaCare one Sunday and she got diagnosed with a UTI. Poor thing. She's doing better now, but still peeing frequently even though the recent culture came back clean. I'm wondering if it's a habit from the infection or something else. Soon my mom will be here and she can figure it out. Dr. Grammy to the rescue!
One night Jaide was being so irrational and was screaming. I caught her on the web cam crying under her bed. I went in there a little bit later and she was almost asleep under there! So I fished her out then she started screaming again. Luckily she was exhausted and went to sleep quickly.

Love the m&m idea. I think I will try that next time.
I used some clip art from the Friend and would hang a row of pictures, and then when they heard the right word they would touch the picture and get an m&m or one smartie or whatever we had out for that talk. That made life SO much better - they were much less wiggly with that little project to keep them busy. Now that they all read and write, they take notes and at the end of the talk they hold up their notebook so I can see, and then they get a piece of candy. That is working ok for us now. I loved it when they were younger though. I'd think they were just playing and then they'd pop up with our key word so they could get their treat - I guess they were really listening. :-)
Poor sick girls. :-( I think your mom is there now??? YAY!!!!! Moms are the best.
