This past January my friend Emily went in for her 20 week ultrasound. They missed their first trimester ultrasound so they were eager to see their little baby. Well they were completely surprised when they saw TWO BABIES! Two little boys coming this May! Their oldest daughter turned one in February. So crazy and so fun!
My friend Tammy and I wanted to throw her a Twin Baby Shower. Tammy and I are the only members of the M.O.M. (mom of multiples) club in our ward (at least that I know of...) Emily and her husband are into Superheros, Doctor Who, Math, and basically everything awesome! :-) They have already named their twins: Ezra and Holden. They are color coding them (like we do with the twirls), Ezra is orange and Holden is blue. So Tammy and I decided to run with those things and throw her a "Super Shower". I found this Etsy shop called Clementine Digitals where she has digital clip art of build your own superheros. I used it make a little super hero for each of their kids.
Tammy, Emily, & Me. Wearing my Captain Obvious shirt that Jake bought me for my bday one year (Jake is just the best at finding quirky and amazing tshirts for me!)
I also made a bunch of little posters and printed them at Sam's Club on 4x6 photo paper. We used them to decorate everything. I converted a diaper wipe box to hold cash or "Diaper Dollars" for the "Double Doody"!
Our super spread! Gina made mini cupcakes, Tammy make tiny cookies, & Arlene made a Captain America fruit platter. I borrowed some super hero costumes from my friend Amy (the big cape is mine - Jake wore it for his King Candy costume).
The POW sign came from Jami. She found it on an Etsy shop she likes. She decided to buy it for my living room (since we have Roy Lichtenstein comic style decorations in there). Then she found out I was throwing the super shower - crazy coincidence!!! She emailed the owner of the Etsy Shop (Unpolished and Pretty) and told her how it would be perfect for my baby shower. The owner sent it to me via fast shipping - at her own cost - and it arrived the day of the shower! HOW AWESOME IS SHE!?! I hung it up after the party. Using Command Strips I was able to hang it at a super angle!
I found this clever super game on Pinterest. We set up "villains and vices" to newborn babies and used Nerf guns to shoot them down. Side note: James bought Jake and me the guns for our wedding. He said that our first year of marriage probably needed them to help resolve conflicts. I would call Jake on my way home from school and sometimes I would walk into a pitch black apartment and see a loaded gun on the floor by the door. I had 5 seconds to grab the gun and take cover before the assault attack began. So fun! When we moved out of that apartment we found those little green balls hiding all over the place!
Most ladies just wanted to chat and eat snacks. But a few girls were great sports - like my friend Whitney.
The lady of honor and her sister Chloe were good sports too!
Chloe is a real super hero - Emily was opening presents and got stuck on ribbon. Chloe just pulled out this huge knife from her purse. She's ready for whatever mega villains she might encounter! Tammy made the boys little Pi ties! They are ready for March 14th next year! (Emily's husband is going to school to be a math teacher - nerd!)
To go with her gift I made this nerdy card!
Emily and Chloe (their mom, Arlene, is awesome! She's in the purple plaid shirt. She's in our ward too).
I was so worried that a Friday night during spring break would be difficult for people. But we had a great turn out! It was a fun night!
Jamie rocking her red streak (I may or may not have bleached it for her - I love when my friends let me experiment on them!) Knox did NOT want to be in the photo! haha!
It was a Super Fun night! Last I heard Emily's home with contractions and a very uncomfortable, twin-packed 37 week belly. She's a rock star!!!!! Can't wait to meet Ezra and Holden!
