September Sayings

The twirls wake up with Scarlett in the morning before school.  This early morning leads to cranky afternoons.  I can sometimes get them to take a nap if I put them in my bed and lay in between them.  But more often then not, they will fall asleep when we go pick up Scarlett from school.
The early mornings make everyone tired, even mom and dad!

Jake and I don't use the TV in our room very much, but it has been so helpful at keeping the girls preoccupied while I get ready!  I think we need to talk more about how awesome TV is!  YAY for screen time!

My girls love the rainbows that our prisms make on our floor.  We let the girls stay up late one weekend and we went outside to watch the sunset.  The twirls were totally in awe!  It was really sweet!  As the sun went down and the sky changed colors they kept yelling "rainbow!!!!"  And then the stars came out and they just couldn't take their eyes off the sky.  It made me appreciate the beauty of a simple sunset.

For FHE one night we discussed stranger danger.  We read The Berenstain Bears Learn About Strangers - which I remember reading as a kid!  Then we discussed how people can have good hearts and bad hearts.  I wasn't sure how much the twirls were really getting it - then Siena yelled "I have a kitty cat heart!" to which Jaide replied "I have a hoo hoo puppy heart!" [hoo hoo = owl]  So ya, I think they really got the message.

We really don't like bad guys in our house.  Unless they want to pretend to be one and chase their sisters.  But it can also be used as an insult - which usually bring many tears to the accused.  "I not a bad guy!!!"  And other times a joke "you a bad guy... just kidding!"  I have overheard the twirls talking many times about bad/good guys...

Jaide: "I a 'uman." [human]
Siena: "Are you a bad guy 'uman?"
Jaide: "No, I is a good guy 'uman."

One twirl (not sure who) said "I don't like bad guys. Jesus and Holy Ghost protect our house."  LOVE!

PS - have I already shared these sandwich cutters?  My girls just love picking the shapes and it really makes a boring Wow! butter and jam sandwich become fun!

Scarlett: "I said a prayer in the garage so Heavenly Father could help me get my roller skates on and help dad get home faster"

Scarlett: "I'm ready to go hit some gnarly waves on the water slide!"

For the primary program Scarlett had to finish this sentence: I can follow the prophet by... I asked her to fill in the blank and she said "....by following directions that the prophet says."  true!

She wanted to make grape juice - can you see all the grapes crammed in her cup?  My favorite part was the little grape garnish she put on the rim!  haha!  And the other photo was a game we played at Blake's engineer birthday party.  She said it was the best birthday party ever!

Siena: "My bum has poop inside in my bones."

(after finding Siena in the bathroom trying to wipe Jaide's bum)
Siena: "I want to wipe Jaide."
Jenni: "No, you're not a grown up."
Siena: "Yes I am.  I a tiny grown up!"

For several weeks Siena was waking up with nightmares.  She would sometimes just cry in her bed and other times she would come in our room.  Some mornings I even found her in bed between Jake and me.  I would often give her a breath mint (aka "bravery pill") and sing her back to sleep.  Still don't know what it was, but for now they seem to have gone away *knock on wood!*

Jaide: "I be super scarecul." [careful]

Jaide: "Jesus flies in the air like the tooth fairy."

Jaide: "I get bigger, I go to the doctor and get holes in my ears, to wear earrings like you mommy."

(Jaide will run full speed at you and yell "Cannonball!")
Jaide: "I say cannonball a lot. I love cannonballs."

I made the girls play the "love game" where we all take turns saying something we love about everyone.  They said things like "she is super fast" "she is like a rainbow" "she is yummy" - only the highest of compliments!

Time out for both twirls.  We really are living up the "threenager" phase.

Oh my I'm laughing out loud. I love the funny stuff kids say at that age!!

(And YAY for TV when you need a minute to accomplish something. I always called it "The Sitter".)
