Before and Afters

We've been wanting to extend our driveway for a long time, but since we were thinking of moving this summer we put that project on hold.  Once we decided to stay in our home we called cement people and got that project moving forward.

My neighbor was getting some yard work done by these guys.  I went over and asked how much they charge to take out bushes.  Two hours later all our bushes on the side of our house were pulled out and hauled off!  They were awesome!  They even dug up the roots!

In addition to extending our driveway we wanted to replace our front porch step.  One time little Amber was coming in our home and she fell and scraped her knee.  Jake had to use 3 bandaids to help her wounds feel better.  Since then he's been calling our front step replacement as "Project Amber."  haha!

The cement guys were awesome.  My only complaint is that our Township took over a month to get us the permit to do this work.

They told me that they had to pour concrete footings for the new steps.  I was thinking just like a new square of cement, nope - look at how deep they dug down for these footings!

Viola!  New steps.  They had a mason come and put in brick steps.  They are wet in this photo, but you can see the size.  Shallow and wide.  I love them!  They were perfect for all those little feet at Halloween too!

Here's our new driveway extension.  More concrete = more space to park things.  I think Jake's next project is filling our new space.  Merry Christmas to him!

I was feeding Skye in the mother's room at church and I had this wild idea to give the room a makeover.  I have spent many hours in that room between all these kids, and I wanted to give back.

I wish I had a picture of the broken gold and glass lamp table that used to be in there.  But here's the before...

And the after!  Jake and I took the girls to IKEA and I bought this little side table.  Then I brought lotion and a big hand sanitizer for the counter.  We were signed up to clean the church that week, so we brought everything with us.  I grabbed the vacuum and really scrubbed that little room down.  We even mopped the tile floor.  It was so clean!  I brought some command strips and hung a little IKEA clock and some frames on the wall.  I made these pictures so that there was something nice to stare at while feeding your baby.

Here's a close up of the photos I made for the wall.

Your renovation of the mother's room made me tear up!! You are amazing. Also, I can't wait to see what will go in that cement space!

Love the mother's lounge. All I remember from those years was that it always smelled like diapers in there. Ew.

Love the new steps!
