Scub Scouts, General Conference & Missionaries

During the summer the girls took turns going with Jake to "scub scouts".   One time while Jaide was at scouts Siena and Scarlett took a bath together.  They played duck duck goose, tag, and hide and seek - all while in the bath tub!  haha!  Another day Scarlett cut her hand "owww!!!!  I can't use it for another 26 days!"  (Why?)  "So I can show the scouts.  Can I keep my band aid on till I go to cub scouts?"  haha!

Now that school has started the girls have to be in bed before scouts is over.  Luckily for them the scouts did a service project for a neighbor of ours so they got to go on one last scouting adventure.

That night after the service project Scarlett's eye looked a little puffy.  I figured that she was allergic to one of the weeds we pulled up so I gave her Benadryl and sent her to bed.  The next morning it looked a little worse and by the time I picked her up from school is was abnormally puffy.  When Jake got home from work is was HUGE!
That night was Rebekah's shower, so Jake took Scarlett to instacare.  Yes, it was an allergic reaction.  The Doctor gave her prednisone and more Benadryl.  The poor girl was all drugged up and whacked out for the weekend.  It took several days for her eye to go back down.  I love the picture of her laying down in the sun - like a little cat.  Poor girl!  Such a bizarre reaction!!!

The beginning of October we were excited for General Conference.

General Conference weekend began with Siena and Scarlett sneaking down to the kitchen and making a special breakfast for everyone.  How cute!

We played a game where each apostle's photo was on a brown bag with a surprise inside: a treat, a new game, or an activity of something we already own. Each time someone new came on the screen the girls would ask "Is that one of the bag guys?"

The camera zoomed in on the Uchtdorfs and Siena yelled "Grumple and Grammy!" Then When President Uchtdorf was speaking Jaide yelled "Grumple said Jacob!!!!" cause he was speaking about the "God of Jacob" hilarious!

Jaide was playing on the floor and I heard her singing "Heavenly Father had a dog and Bingo was his name-o...." hahaha!!!

At one point the song was "I am a Child of God."  My favorite part of the whole conference weekend was watching our 3 older girls singing all the verses to that song.  *tears*

There were even activities for Jake.

It was a fun conference weekend!  I was busy the whole time, listened to every talk, but not really sure how much I internalized.  Thank goodness we can read them online!

I LOVE these photos of Jake with the girls!!!!

The girls look so grown up with their little top knots!

For YW I decided to do a fun craft project to mix things up.  We made these spinners where you put a big heart on a 3x5 card and a word/picture on another.  Then you tape them back to back with a wooden dowel.  You rub the dowel back and forth like you are trying to start a fire.  The word looks like it's floating inside the heart.  I didn't tell them how it worked until they built it, then I started spinning mine.  They were so impressed and excited!  Lily told me that it was the best lesson ever!  haha!  I'm going to spend less time on my lesson and more time coming up with fun crafts from now on!

The girls love our Home Teachers (our friend and his son).  I believe they were hiding little cars in Sam's socks during this photo.  He's a great sport!  He is the oldest of 5 kids, so he's used to it.

Sister Jones and Sister Cruz had the opportunity to stop by our house - TWICE!  Sister Jones was in our ward when she first came on her mission a year ago.  She's my little "sister" and I love when we get to see her (and Sister Cruz is so fun too!)  Luckily we had lots of dinner planned those nights so I invited them to stay for food.  Sister Jones fed Scarlett grapes out on the deck.

For their lesson the did this cool trick using a tea bag and a lighter, watch my trust in them:

Then another night we talked about how everyone is an important piece of our family puzzle.  Then they helped the girls put together our new Shutterfly puzzle of our little crayon box.  So fun!

Poor Scarlett's allergy eyes! I feel for her. :-( Are you going to do allergy shots with her? We've just started child #2 on the shots. Oh how I'm wishing we'd had them all tested and started at the same time....
