A few weeks ago Scarlett found my Carmen San Diego hat in the dress ups - she immediatly exclaimed "a fire hat!" haha! Ya, maybe the fire fighters in Vegas wear a velvet, fur-trimmed hat but not in Canton. She loves the hat and wears it while watching the fire truck episodes of Paw Patrol, Team Umizoomi, Bubble Guppies, Caillou, Word World, etc... and she gathers her fire dog and fire truck to watch them too! This particular day I got the idea to call the fire station in Canton and see if they allow kids to tour their facility. They love to have visitors, so I scheduled one for today and invited my ward. Scarlett has been talking about this trip for weeks!!!
Unfortunatly today was frigid. Like wind chill of -25degF! In fact, most schools cancelled because it was so cold! I think that prevented some of my friends from coming - but a few of us braved the weather and got to see the fire trucks! The kids were all so darling! The fire fighter (she goes by Moe) was awesome! She was great with all the kids, toddlers, babies, strollers, and moms!
(If you look closely you might notice that her boots are on the wrong feet. I noticed this when we got home. No, she didn't put them on herself. I put them on her. I might need a kindergarten refresher course....)
When we got home all she could talk about was the fire trucks. She wanted to use her new "fire truck pencil" and made me draw like a million fire trucks on her paper (this was just the beginning). She also got a badge which I put on her velvet hat to make it look a little more legit.
Later she told me "I hurt my wrist, I have to wear this now." What a goof ball! (yes, poor Marshall gets dragged all over the house).

What a fun thing to do on a cold day. Laurellee and her boys loved the fire station at their old house. Love the hat Grandma
So why isn't she wearing the hat at the fire station? It would have been the perfect accessory!
And about those TP rolls. Still waiting...
That is so awesome! I'm so glad there was an awesome firewoman out there to show them the ropes!
We DID love the firestation! It was right across the street and we loved to go see the trucks. :-) What fun!
