Days like today drive me straight to the bottle... I mean ice cream carton. It's funny cause with all this nursing you would think I would be loosing weight - but nope. I'm pretty sure it has to do with a hormonal imbalance or undiagnosed gland disorder... not my diet rich in chocolate and my sedentary lifestyle....
The other day I woke up early to feed the babies. After nursing I carried one to the changing mat on the floor and went back for the other baby. I noticed a bunch of brown spots dotting the carpet along the path I just walked. Horrified of the mess I was about to encounter I gave myself a little pep talk: "just get in there, clean it up, then wash your hands." "That poor baby doesn't want to sit in that gooey mess." "You can do it!" I unzipped her sleep sac and examined the fabric. No mess anywhere. What?!? I was so confused. What caused those spots to suddenly appear? I looked all over for evidence to explain what had just happened. That's when I found it. On the bottom of my foot. A melted M&M from my midnight snacking! Apparently it was waiting for me when I first stepped onto the carpet and clung to my heel as I walked around the room. Oops! Hey - I don't mind cleaning up chocolate! It was a little gross when I got the carpet fibers in my mouth though...
Jake got a shower mirror so he can shave in the shower. The first day it was in the shower with me I thought he had put it really high to be funny. I said something sassy that evening like "haha, didn't want me to see in the mirror either?" He looked confused. That was the moment I realized that I'm much shorter than my husband...
I love going to book club once a month. Most of the time I show up having not read the book - not even the wiki summary about the book. I just like to go hang out with my friends. When I spend my free time reading I am super picky about which books I read. Well this month we were supposed to read a biography and come ready to share what we learned. I actually read one!!!
It's a story about a boy that is in an orphanage. No one wants him cause he has a rare form of dwarfism. One day this girl comes in and forms a sweet bond with him. She convinces her family to adopt him. Through her love and the family's support he is able to overcome his physical challenges. But during the process he actually develops an extreme case of giantism that causes him to grow and grow and grow - until finally he is bigger than their house!
That's right, I brought my copy of Clifford the Big Red Dog to share! ;-)
And finally...
Last week I went to the pediatrician so Scarlett and I could get flu shots. The babies were sleeping in the stroller and Scarlett sat and played with the block table thing. I had makeup on and we were all sporting accessories (of course). A lady sitting next to me said that I look like I have it all together! HAHAHA!!! I'm glad I have her fooled. I made sure she knew this quiet moment was the exception not the rule, and that twenty minutes earlier everyone was crying as I loaded them into the car. But it made me feel nice to know that there are a few brief moments where I don't appear to be a hot mess (few. brief. moments.)

Hahahaha! Ok, these all made me laugh out loud!!
Isn't it nice when you feel like, for 5 minutes, you have everything together and don't look like such a mess? I can remember relishing those moments. Hang in there - you'll have more and more of them as they get older.
Love you Jenni! Thanks for a good laugh!!
Laughed and laughed!
At least you picked a book that you could get through quickly. Gotta be smart with your reading time. :o)
