Since her birthday party last week, each morning Scarlett's brought 2 cupcake cones upstairs to my bed. She thinks she can eat it for breakfast as long as she brings one for me - luckily she's right! :-)
I told her she couldn't open her presents til her birthday. She pointed to the "Happy Birthday" banner in our kitchen and said "It's my birthday, mom" with so much attitude! Oh my!
When we realized it was Daylight Savings on Saturday night I told Jake it felt like the eve before battle. Luckily our girls all woke up on their own in time for church. Scarlett was so excited to wear her "badge" to church since it was her birthday.
During Sacrament meeting Scarlett was drawing on her magnadoodle. All of the sudden she yelled "Look! A crotch!" Oh my goodness! The shocked look on Jake's face was priceless. I could barley contain my laughter. Jake hurried and grabbed the toy and said "let's draw an airplane." She took the magnadoodle back and drew something then said "look, another crotch!" This happened a few more times before Jake decided she was done drawing. hahahahahaha!!!!!!
The nursery kids all sang to her (which was followed by her crying). I had given her Benadryl the night before for a stuffy nose, and I think that medicine makes her really emotional. Bummer! Since all our girls were crying, we decided to call it a day and left church a little early. (It's her birthday and she'll cry if she wants to.) On the way home we drove over the freeway - Scarlett yelled "look, a big hill!" Jake and I realized that our poor girls don't even know what real change in elevation looks like!
For dinner that night Scarlett invited her bestie, Kaylie, over for dinner (and Kaylie's family). Scarlett said the prayer that night: "...thank you for daddy, mommy, Scarlett, and the babies, Kaylie, Amber, Laura, and... and ... Daddy Steve" haha! I guess she doesn't see Steve very often, she wasn't sure what to call him.
We had pizza - a favorite of Scarlett's. Laura suggested we use Greek Flat break for the base and they were AMAZING!

So I know her cake is nothing fancy... but my cake decorating skills have come a long way in the past few years. For comparison, this is the cake we made for our first anniversary. No, the frosting's not pink, that's the inside filling that leaked out. What a difference a cake tip, knowledge about powdered sugar, and a little practice can make!
The girls really wanted to hold the babies! It looked like so much fun Amber wanted a turn too!
We asked Scarlett to smile, she passed out instead. side note: all the prednisone in the past two months is really taking its toll on me... I'm even getting moon face :-(
Kaylie and Scarlett went to Scarlett's room to play. We found all her clothes on the floor "we made a leaf pile!" haha! We went easy on her cause it was her birthday after all.
I love technology! Many of our loved ones were able to join in the birthday fun.
Aunt Carolyn has been making cakes for all the Glauser nieces and nephews. We got a surprise package in the mail - she made a special cupcake for Scarlett and mailed it to her! It was even blue cake! I am so impressed with how well it traveled! When Scarlett saw it she said "It's a fire dog Marshall! I LOVE IT!!!" Thank you Aunt Carolyn!!!!!!!!!
A doggie pile! (thank you Aunt Jami!) The past two nights I've had to round up all these puppies from all over our house so she can sleep with them.
"I'm taking a rest, mommy."

Wonderful birthday memories. And greatly improved cake making skills. That cake looks great.
Very cute cake!
I can't believe she is three!! That flew by for me.
On the time change nightmare: I realized when my kids were little that if I planned ahead, it wasn't quite so awful. Now in the spring for the week before the change (when I notice…some years it sneaks up on me) I move their bedtimes 10 minutes earlier every night and get them up 10 minutes earlier every morning. That way, by Sunday, they're going to bed an hour early and getting up an hour early and are already well on their way to adjusting to the new schedule. Anyway. Worked (and still does work!) for me. And - bonus - when they were really little in the fall, I did't move their bedtime at all and I just put them to bed at 6 instead of 7. It was heavenly. In WI it was dark by 430…I don't remember it being dark that early in MI, so I'm not sure it would work as well for you. I would do dishes and laundry and watch a movie and still be in bed by 9.
Drawing crotches in church. Oh they grow up so fast. Happy birthday free year old! Can't wait to see you in person!
Ergh, it really really ticks me off when our login is under a different name. Sorry, that last comment was mine, again. Geesh, you'd think I'd learn.
hahaha! I love the crotches in church. Hilarious!!
