Anecdote Overload

So whenever there is something that I want to remember (a sweet moment, a funny Scarlett phrase, a silly event) I send myself an email with the subject "blog" and a quick note to remind me what happened.  I'm usually near some connected device (phone, tablet, computer, Jake) so this method has been really effective for me.  Then when I blog I just search my inbox for all my unopened "blog" emails and copy them over to my new post.  The only disadvantage to this method is when I go a few weeks without blogging - then I have a bunch of random anecdotes that don't really fit in anywhere.  So here are several short snip its of the past few weeks! (sorry if there are repeats from earlier posts - my memory is shot these days and I don't feel like looking it up).

The Twins

  • I've been crawling out of their room at night so they don't see me leave (I'm sure many of you can relate!)
  • I nurse them in 5 minutes flat - you can't bottle feed that fast!  They are eating champions!
  • They are such good babies!  At night I lay them in their beds awake after nursing them and they just watch their Dream Lites and fall asleep on their own!  The trick to having twins is having good babies!
  • They hold hands while eating... cute!
  • Sometimes pull each other's binkies out from the other one's mouth
  • Lady at grocery store asked how Scarlett was adjusting to the"boys"... pink helmets, pink carseat covers, ????  Crazy lady!
  • They blow raspberries when they are mad, really cute!
  • Really like eating dinner.  Recently they've discovered frozen yogurt bites, which they LOVE.  Unfortunately Scarlett and Jake also love them - so they disappear quickly from our pantry.
  • Jaide has bitten me twice in the past week while nursing.  OUCH!  Not a fan of that!
  • Jake's mouth gets tired when he feeds the babies (cause he opens his mouth each time they are supposed to - what a cutie!)
  • The babies don't appreciate when only one person feeds them.  They are so impatient - what babies!

SCARLETT

  • These are my favorite, fruit strips are my favorite, blue suckers are my favorite, pears are my favorite (everything is her favorite!)
  • (while looking down at her robot jammies) "Hello robots.  What's going on?"
  • Scarlett is really polite.  The other day her friend Kaylie kept trying to give her toys, Scarlett kept saying "no thank you.  no thank you.  no thank you"
  • "Teddy bear is grumpy, he needs to go to time out with lion"
  • Her vitamins are gummy bears - because little kids don't like swallowing pills, right?  Wrong!  Scarlett swallows her 2 gummy bears whole!
  • (while standing on a box, wearing a tutu) "Ladies and gentlemen! I'm a circus"
  • "Back to my nest" (pile of pillows)
  • I told her we needed to go to the store.  "We buy two light bulbs for me?" (Her playroom had two burnt out bulbs)
  • At dinner we ask her if she wants to fold arms or hold hands in a circle while we pray (always picks a circle) Then we let her pick who prays (always picks herself).
  • Scarlett's prayer: "Thank you I could go to Kaylie's house, thank you mom go to the doctor with the babies, thank you dad go to work, thank you we share the cookies, thank you for Jesus"
  • Another prayer: "Thank you for mommy, thank you for daddy, thank you for Jaide and Sie-nena, thank you for Scarlett, thank you for my puppy, thank you for the store, thank you for my flower cup, thank you for Jesus"
  • We throw our arms up and yell "A-MEN!" at the end of our prayers (not reverent - but she really likes praying!)  Now the kids in the nursery do it too.  Oops!
  • Scarlett's been having nightmares.  Usually she yells for "DAD!"  She told him that her teddy bear was biting her.  Another time the bed was made of frogs.  And another there was a "pumpkin kissing me!"
  • When she gets hurt "Please kiss it better for me"  I feel so magical that my kisses can heal her!
  • When she asks for her show she says "I want to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, come inside come inside."  Everytime.
  • Been saying "no problem" a lot.  Like if I tell her thanks for cleaning up. "no pwo-bem"
  • "I want to do it all by by bu by by myself"  (sometimes she stutters while thinking or if she's excited)
  • "Green light means go! Red light means stop!" She gives new meaning to the term backseat driver!
  • Scarlett asked Jake to sing her a "pink pony" song at night.  So he started singing "She'll be riding six pink ponies when she comes.  YeeHaw!"  Now Scarlett does the YeeHaw part.  It's so cute!  Especially cause she's laying down on her pillow with her eyes closed whispering "yeehaw"
  • She has gone pee pee in the potty twice now!  (before we would just sit and wait FOREVER for nothing to happen).  The first time she went potty we called dad at work to tell him the good news and she got chocolate golden coins.  Now if I ask if she has to potty she asks for her "two golden coins."  I think I might need to buy more of those!
  • She LOVES the babies's plastic "link-ies" she will take them off their bouncer and make a long line which she hook on things around the house.  It drives me crazy that she doesn't just leave their only toy alone!  I guess this is just the beginning of the sharing issues!  Sometimes she cracks me up with where she links them.  Like the other day she put on long chain on the carseat - cause they probably need that many, right?

Jake: We're going to McDonald's.
Scarlett: We're going to a farm!?!?!
Jenni: Uhh... no.............????
Jake: oh! no, not Old McDonald's Farm, McDonald's for food!! Haha !!

The CVS drive through lady pointed out that we are both Gemini signs - which has the zodiac symbol of twins!!!

Jake and I had to go into the bank to talk with our financial planner guy and we brought all our kids.  At the end Jake went to get the girls loaded in the car while I waiting for him to finish a little thing.  The bank guy turned to me and said "I just want to let you know... I have a lot of parents come in my office with their kids, you two seem like really excellent parents - just the way you interact with your kids. I just wanted to let you know. I don't have kids but it seems like you guys are doing a great job. Lots of parents push their kids to the side or ignore them, but you guys didn't.  I especially thought it was
funny when your husband was excited about that the new kid iPad app he found and said it was awesome!"

Love love love it all!! I can remember many, many nights of crawling out of the room. Or laying on the floor, frozen and terrified, hoping they wouldn't be able to see me. Haha. Good times. In retrospect. :-)

Done the crawl of desperation myself, only to be thwarted by a squeaky floor.

Oh the things I could have learned from you- you're doing a great job little girl of mine.

I'm looking forward to the video where Jake has mastered feeding with both hands at one time. You nurse both at the same time- just saying.

Too many comments to comment on, but I read an enjoyed every one of them.

You can nurse them in 5 minutes?? I cannot do anything in five minutes. Anything.

And I love the A-MEN that has spread to your nursery. Too funny.
