Huntwork's 50th Anniversary (Murphy's Law)

Jake's grandparents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary a few weeks ago.  They had a big celebration in Salt Lake.  We decided to send Jake to the party to show our love and support.

It was supposed to be a relatively low key weekend while Jake was gone.  Ha.  Murphy's Law: that first night alone with the girls...
11pm: I go to bed, it's hard falling asleep without Jake
3am: Scarlett has a nightmare, comes in my bed, I'm too tired to move her
4am: Skye wakes with 101.2° fever, feed her, give her medicine
5am: Put Skye in bed, go to sleep
6am: Twirls come looking for Scarlett, get them all to go back to bed
7am: Twirls kid light turns green, the day begins
7:30am: Skye wakes up for the day
11am: Skye fever 100.4°, give meds, then she throws up everywhere... Another UTI???, I need brownies
Skye was so sick.  Jake, my mom, and I all agreed we were worried about her having another UTI.  This was exactly how it started last time.  Rather then let it get bad again, we decided that I should just take her to instacare that afternoon.  Based on her history, they tried to do a pediatric catheter.  The PA couldn't get it in so she called the ER at St Joes and sent us over there.  When I got back to our room in the ER, the nursing staff and doctor were the same from when I took Skye a few weeks before!  What a tender mercy!  They all remembered us and how bad it was last time.  They didn't treat me like I was being a hypochondriac, but instead told me that they were glad I brought her in.  They all treated her symptoms seriously, which I really appreciated.  Thankfully the tests they ran were negative and we were eventually sent home just to wait it out.

Laura had the older girls while I was with Skye.  They had a wonderful day!  It was warm enough to play in her backyard.  They had a picnic then spent the rest of the evening in the park.  They didn't miss me at all!  When I picked them up it was a dark, starry night.  Scarlett looked up at the sky and said "look Venus!"  I asked "how do you know it's Venus?"  "Cause it's the brightest planet in the sky."  haha!  That girl!

The rest of the weekend we stayed indoors and let Skye rest.  There was a lot of this...

And this...

We did crafts...

Scarlett taught herself "piano lessons" (I don't remember piano lessons requiring so much acrobatics).  The twirls played doctor.  I love that they call band-aids "bandages".  haha!  How proper!

The twirls have been wrestling and snuggling a lot. It must be fun to have an identical twin who is exactly your size to play with. They keep taking off their clothes and telling me "I need fresh air on my tummy."  Why are my kids always "maked" [naked]????  I promised that Jake and I are always fully clothed in our home.

That weekend Scarlett's first wiggly tooth got reeeeally wiggly (Feb 18).  She was afraid to eat cause she thought that it would come out and she would swallow it.  I told her that my dad would pull them out for me so I wouldn't swallow them.  So she told me she wanted me to pull hers out.  It was tight in her mouth and I felt weird tugging on it.  So we took a break while I told her to twist it back and forth to help loosen it.  A little later she told me to try and pull it out again.  It was just hanging on by a thread.  I told myself I was going to pull til it came out.  I started pulling and it was holding on strong.  There was a second where I almost gave up but I gritted my teeth and pulled a little harder.  Pop!  The tooth came out!  Scarlett started crying cause she was so excited, "I'm so happy!!  I'm a big girl, bigger than my sisters!"  It was like a right of passage for her.  And she finally got to use the tooth pillow we bought a few months ago.

We have never done the tooth fairy thing before.  I went to Facebook to ask people what traditions they do.  There were a ton of great ideas and things to consider.  We wanted to pick a tradition that is something we could keep up for the next several years.  I found a bunch of tutorials for origami dollar bills.  Super easy way to make a dollar seem extra special.  I typed up a little note and made it mini-size.  I think that I will only do that for the first tooth.

The next morning Scarlett and the twirls ran into my room so excited.  Scarlett told me "I woke up last night and I saw something little on my floor with a tiny head and legs.  I think it was the tooth fairy!!!!"  haha!  Then after I read her the note she said "I didn't know she knew my name!!!!!"  It was so cute.  I love seeing the magic in their eyes.  Since I read that note all the girls have been brushing their teeth several times a day and showing me how "shiny" they are.  The twirls now like to show us that they have "a wiggly tooth" (they don't).

Jake had a great weekend celebrating with his family.  He got to see some relatives that he hasn't seen in over a decade.  They ate great food and told lots of stories.  He learned a great story about when Grandpa Huntwork pushed Grandmommy's ex-husband off a building!!!  Well, it wasn't exactly like that.  Grandmommy was still married to her ex.  Grandpa owned an industrial pest control business.  They were on a roof doing some work while tied into harnesses.  The soon-to-be-ex-husband was working from Grandpa up on the roof, but he was really nervous.  So Grandpa pushed him off the edge so he would learn to trust that the harness would catch him and so he wouldn't be so scared.  haha!  That's one way to teach them to rely on the equipment!  Who knew that someday he would be married to his wife!

Jake got to drive my dad's new F-350 and use the massage seats!

While staying with Carolyn and Matt, Jake got to be the first person to see this picture!!!  Look a little closer, yes... that's TWO babies!  They are having IDENTICAL TWINS!!!!!!!!!  I am so incredibly excited for them.  Seriously I started crying when I found out.  Twins are so hard, yes, but so fun too.  I still can't believe it!  So far she hasn't been too sick or anything, which is a blessing.  Save that energy for all those long nights (and long days).  But still, we are sooooo thrilled!  What are the chances of having two sets of ID twins (mono/di)?!!?!?!?
