My first Sunday back at church post baby was Father's Day. We got to church and Abby sat with us during Sacrament meeting. Skye started crying a few minutes after we got there so I took her to the mother's room to nurse her. While I was in there I heard the twirls crying, they sounded close so I put Skye down on a blanket on the floor and went out in the hall to see if Jake was looking for me. I looked down two hallways and didn't see them. So I went back to nursing Skye. A minute later Janice Peterson came in the nursing room and asked if I needed help. Confused I told her I was fine. She said that she came to see if Jake needed help but Jake was outside with the twirls so she came to check on me. Apparently after I left, Siena bonked her head. She started screaming which made Jaide start screaming (twins). Jake stood up with Siena to take her out of the pew (did I mention that we were sitting in the front right of the room?) At this point Jaide was screaming on the floor so Abby tried to pick her up and hand her to Jake who was in the aisle with Siena. This made Jaide mad so she really started wailing and fighting Abby. So Jake put Siena on the ground so he could rip Jaide off the floor. This then made Siena extra mad so she got even louder. What a spectacle. Luckily Jenni Heaton was sitting behind us. She has 8 year old twin boys, so she knows. She stood up and grabbed Siena and helped Jake get them out in the hall. They weren't calming down so Jake took them on a walk outside around the building. When I heard them screaming it wasn't in the hall, it was over the speaker in the mother's room. After Jake left the room the youth speaker said "um, I'm just going to start over." haha!!! Oh my goodness!!!! After Janice explained what went down, Sister Cook poked her head in the mother's room looking for Jake. She wanted to watch the twirls so he could go back and watch the primary sing, but Jake was outside and missed it. Luckily (?) Scarlett was being "too shy" - Abby and Sister Lowder both tried to get her to go up and sing but she didn't want to. She just stayed and sat quietly with Abby, Jake didn't miss anything.
Later I was in Sunday school and the teacher said something about how life is hard with small kids. Then he pointed to me and said "am I right?" haha! Yes, I guess that day we were the epitome of the messy small child phase. Jake and I had a good hearty laugh about the utter failure that was! (if you're not laughing you're crying!)
Look at these cute little monsters!
Look at this cute little book.
Lots of quality dad time. Watching dirt bike videos with Ford Racing hats. Even Skye joined the fun (she gave us the "get out of the way so I can see my show" look).
Lots of horsey rides!
Skye loves to smile at her daddy:
Jake is such a great daddy! I'm so grateful that he's my partner in crime!

Whoa---I hardly recognized Skye; she has changed a lot! I am not kidding. She is definitely not a newborn anymore. And the whole escapade in Sacrament meeting-everybody gets a turn doing that but the family understands & you did everything you could to control the situation. You two are great. And Happy Father's Day to a great Daddy-Jacob.
Nothing brings more happiness to a parent than seeing their own children be great parents. Keep up the great work, you two!
Oh the Sunday spectacle. Hahahaha! These are the stories you laugh about, someday. Please remember that we've ALL been the spectacle at one time or another and I don't think anyone is judging, I think everyone sees it and thinks 'oh man, I remember how hard it was to have kids that age...' :-)
