Church has all the right "pieces"

A gaggle of gorgeous Glauser gals. (I usually make the girls wear little bike shorts under their dresses because, well, this...)

While I was home with a newborn, Jake took all 3 girls to church by himself.  What a champ!  Scarlett's teacher told us that they wrote "Reverence" on the board and Scarlett sounded it out for the class.  She said some of her first graders couldn't do that!

Scarlett gave her first talk in Primary while I was home with Skye (and recovering from major surgery).  Grammy helped her at the microphone while Jake stood in the back and took a few sneaky pictures for me.  Her talk was about how Jesus made His church with all the right "pieces" and she colored her own visuals!

Jake works with the Wolf Den in cub scouts.  He started a new tradition where he takes just one girl with him to scouts each week.  The girls LOVE when they get to go on a daddy-daughter date to "scub scouts".  Jake told me how one week Scarlett even showed off some of her math skills for the boys.  That's my girl!  Look at this cute little "scub scout" Jakey was!

At night we will sit in a circle on the floor in the girls' room to say our family prayer.  To get the girls to join us we sing "A circle is round, it has no end.  That's how long I want to be your friend.  Family prayer, family prayer.  Family prayer in a circle, not a square."  They are really good at coming to us and folding their arms.  Then Jake or I will pray - usually with 2 or 3 echoes!

We've had a few rough days (weeks) as we are adjusting to 4 very young kids.  I feel like I'm running on fumes and most days we just watch TV all day (I wish I was exaggerating!)  It takes all my will power to act cool when Jake walks through the door and not run screaming into my bedroom.  Even the girls are struggling.  They are so whiny and I really think it's from boredom.  One particularly rough day I put Skye down for a nap, then came downstairs.  I found the 3 older girls singing "I Am A Child of God" together.  It was such a beautiful and tender moment in the midst of our hot mess.

One day I told Scarlett the sister missionaries were coming for dinner to celebrate one of their birthdays.  Scarlett asked me "Are we going to play reverent birthday games?"  haha!  Missionaries really know how to party!

Since we've been taking all our kids to church, we've tried really hard to make it on time.  9am is always hard, but man it seems impossible now.  Lack of sleep combined with all the coordinating outfits would be hard enough - but the past two weeks we've had major meltdowns by 2 kids before church.  Ironically it was a different set of 2 kids each week!  Oh man.

Jessica asked me if I would help her with her hair for prom.  She brought a gold leaf crown that we tried but just wasn't working.  She let me cut it up and I was able to put it along the braid.  It wasn't exactly like the picture she brought, but I think (hoped) that she liked it!  It was fun to do!  I really think that doing fancy updos require a bit of structural enginerding (and a whole lotta hairspray!!)  ;-)

Just this year- JJ is nine and Luke is 3- I feel like I have more good days than hot mess days. I mean this to give you hope, not bum you out😊. So give it another 3 years and you'll start to feel like yourself again.
