Hospital Monitoring - Round 2

Tuesday was like a repeat of Monday.  Except Jake was at work so I had to squeeze behind the steering wheel.

Scarlett woke up sick, so I decided to take her to the OB with me.  I drugged her up before we left (her nose was REALLY bad - there was a justifiable excuse for the Dimetapp).  So while I was being monitored she just sat kinda zoned out watching the iPad.  The nurse brought her a bag of animal cookies - big hit!  I'm glad she was so good cause the machine stopped printing and I had to sit for an additional 20 min all hooked up!

Quick rant:
Why do they make pregnant women pee in a cup.  I mean, yes, I technically understand the practical reasons for checking the urine (protein, etc), but seriously - those little cups!  I can't even see my belly button - how am I supposed to successfully line that tiny cup up on the first try?!?  When I went potty at the hospital I noticed that they have paper funnels - big funnels.  That's a clever solution to this problem.  They should make all OBs carry them.  I don't care how dorky/awkward using a funnel and cup would be - I would much rather attempt that than pee all over my hand. (TMI - sorry!)
/rant.

Baby A's heart rate was high again.  Poor girl is either stressed or really likes when I smoke my albuterol.  Just to be safe the OB sent me to the hospital (better safe than sorry).  I dropped Scarlett off at Laura's (where she proceed to sleep the entire time!) and headed over to triage.

This time the triage was less crowded so I got my own, quiet room - much better for napping.  I was on the monitor for 90 min (?) before the midwife and an OB came to do a biophysical check on the babies.  This basically includes using the ultrasound machine to look for good active movements, large pockets of fluid (they can measure how big), and they look at the ribs/diaphragm for breathing motions.  The little girls are already practicing their breathing!

Oh - and Baby B had flipped to be breech.  Maybe that's why I threw up twice yesterday.  No more acrobatics kiddo!  But I do feel kinda bad because after they made me throw up I gave them spankings.  Turns out I was actually smacking B's head - not her bottom!  (j/k - for the record I don't condone swatting unborn fetuses... unless it becomes absolutely necessary.... which it had.......)

Everything looked great and I had a nice chat with the hospital ladies.  They are so excited for us - and so am I!  I tried again to persuade them to take the twins today - but they just laughed it off (I'm seriously serious people!).  Luckily Jami and I have a plan (it may or may not include her performing surgery in the back of a rental car in the parking lot of DTW right after she gets off a red eye flight.  I'm bringing boiling water, dental floss, and a knife just in case).

I have had more Braxton Hicks - or as I like to call them - Braky's.  Though, Braxtyn and I decided that when they hurt (ie: "real contractions") we should call them Lynner's (sorry Berlyn!)  So hopefully some of these Lynner's pan out in the near future.

My RS Pres called and offered her services.  I'm finally to the point where I don't shrug off their offers but I'm starting to willingly accept them.  It's so hard and humbling to accept service.  I think it's so much easier to be the one serving then to let people serve you... but it's important to give them the opportunity for those blessings.  Plus - I really could use help (ex: ironing - so dangerous with a big belly!)

Random Scarlett story:
Last night she brought me the remote and said "choo choo train".  She watches only 2 shows by name (Team Umizoomi & WordWorld) - the others I force her to watch for my own sanity.  But none of them feature a train.  I was so confused.  I tried turning on her other favorites which just made her mad.  ???  This is not a common thing people - she LOVES Umizoomi and will usually forget everything else when it comes on - not this time.  So finally I looked through the onDemand shows and found an episode of Thomas the Train Engine (cause he is a choo choo train).  When it came on she ran over to me and gave me a huge hug and lots of kisses!!!  I have no idea where she's even seen that show or if she just really wanted to see a train no matter what - but at least we were all happy!

I can't believe they think you can pee in a cup. I can barely do that and I'm not pregnant, let alone 15 months pregnant, or whatever the equivalent is of what you are right now.

I'm gonna get on a plane, come out there, and start fighting with those hospital people until they take those babies out of you. GET THOSE BABIES OUT!!!

Glad you found a train for Scarlett. What a funny little gal!

I totally agree on the peeing thing. That always made me crazy.

And way to go on accepting help. I hate to do it, but sometimes you just have to let go and admit you can't do everything. :-)

We switched our praying to "help Jenni be comfortable" but now we'll start praying to get those wigglers out of you. Hang in there!!

I'm so sorry :( I just ache for you! I am so glad that you are accepting help! That can help make an unbearable situation bearable...at least for a little longer, right?
We love you! You're almost there!

Sounds like Baby B might have a stubborn streak; or maybe she just wants to be like her big sis. Either way, don't worry about spanking her head. There was plenty of cushioning for her.

I have to laugh now, because my word confirmation for this post is "Thomas"! Choo choo!
