Aunt Jami is my Best Friend

Jami spent most of her trip sleeping in Scarlett's room.  Scarlett would tell her several times a day "Aunt Jami, I love you.  You're my best friend."  Even after Jami left Scarlett would tell me "Aunt Jami is my Best Friend."  They had crazy fun together.  Scarlett said some of the funniest things to Jami:

  • My hair is blond and golden, like a gold coin (the chocolate kind)
  • Mickey mouse is on Amazon-a-coocoo (the Roku)
  • (when being silly in the bath tub) Look at this monkey business!
  • (corn dog fell on the floor) Hot dog down!!!
  • (after watching Anastasia) They got their happy ending, but when are they going to build a snowman?
  • (when looking at Jami's brown purse) Did you want to buy a purse that color?  Why?
Scarlett's been into making lists lately.  She'll use her fingers to count when she does it too: "we are going to first take a nap, then watch a show, then eat a snack, ..."  so cute!

Instead of just telling Scarlett what to do all day, I really try to give her 2 choices to choose from (some parenting book told me too).  Anyways, now Scarlett tries to give me options.  One morning she came in my room and woke me up:  "Mom the babies are a-wake.  You have two choices.: One, get the babies out of their cribs.  Two, let them stay in."  (I pick 2 but legally have to do 1...)

One night after the girls were in bed, Scarlett started screaming for Jami.  Jami went to see what was wrong then came back to tell me what happened.  She was laughing so hard she was crying.  It was hysterical to watch her try and tell the story.  I think the fact that it was so late and we were already being silly probably contributed.  But it was so funny!  So she went in the room and Scarlett was hanging over the end of her bed all sweaty and twisted in her blankets.  Jami asked her what she was doing - "I'm looking for the monster!"  Jami asked if she should get rid of it for her.  Scarlett looked up at her and said "It's not real."  haha!  Like Jami was the one being ridiculous!  Then she told Jami "you left me alone!"  as if she had done something terrible.  Then she said "shhh what's that noise outside?  Oh.  I'd recognize that sound anywhere... it's a jack-in-the-box!"  Oh my hahaha!  She was sooo out of it!!!

One night I went to grab something from Scarlett's room while Jami was reading her bedtime stories.  I walked in and Scarlett shot me a guilty look with wide eyes then - about 2 seconds later - she blurted out: "PEANUTS MARSHMALLOW CIRCUS FLAVOR!"  *deep breaths* "That was a secret, I couldn't tell you."  haha!  Apparently Jami was letting her sneak a circus peanut while they read stories.  Glad to know she can't keep a secret from me!

Scarlett's really into shoes.  Mom & Dad's shoes and her new plastic high heels.  We keep it classy around here.

It was so enjoyable to have Jami around.  We laughed so hard.  Not like cute little giggles, but like the ugly laughs where your laughs morph into farm animal sounds.  She even made me spew water all over my kitchen - seriously!  SO FUN!  We also had serious discussions.  One time we chatted about our feelings on guns.  I told her that I have two guns in the house.  A few minutes later she asked me where I keep my guns.  I flexed my arms and said "bam! right here!"  haha!  And one time I mentioned to Scarlett that I learned how to sing into a fake microphone from Uncle Joey.  Jami knew exactly what I meant.  We also got "hooked" on Once Upon a Time and watched the entire series.  Jake was home for Christmas that week - so all 3 of us were impatiently waiting for the girls to go to bed so we could watch 3 or 4 episodes!  It was so lovely to have her in our home and I can't wait til she comes to visit again!!!

Scarlett "walking her puppies".  I love that they just held the ribbon and followed her like it was just a normal thing to do!

Jami sat down to change the babies diapers then she said "Let's change your bum bums" Siena looked over at her, ran to Jaide, told her something in "Twirl Talk", then they grabbed hands and ran away from Jami!  ADORABLE!  There have been several times where we have noticed they really are talking to each other.  I have been worried about "twin talk" and the corresponding speech delays.  At least they can communicate with each other.

If Jake works late or goes on a business trip, we try and video chat so the girls can see him before they go to bed.  In this video Siena is video chatting Jake and it's a good example of their little language.  I wish I understood what she was saying!  But I think her little voice is so sweet!

Then, while I was still video chatting with Jake, Scarlett organized a game of fetch for the twirls:

Which turned into a game of climb through mom's legs (how do I always become the jungle gym?):

This video is Scarlett row row rowing her boat: (yes, I know that Scarlett is always "maked" [naked]  we're working on it... but obviously not that hard)
Here's a random picture of me.  I'm only posting it cause I love my new Dr. Who shirt that Jake gave me (Christmas gift) and this is probably one of the few times that I will wear that shirt AND have makeup on.  But probably not the only time I will wear that shirt AND have a goofy grin!  haha!  Random side note: the majority of my shirts that are newish (like less than 3 years) are gifts from Jake (excluding maternity clothes).  He's great at finding these awesome, quirky shirts!  If only his powers extended to denim - I hate buying jeans!

When Scarlett's Aunt Mary was about Scarlett's age, she would frequently walk up to parents or others and say, "Three things:", then run through a random list of things that she had been collecting in her brain. So for Scarlett to be following that pattern is a very good omen!

Scarlett cracks me up! What a funny girl you've got there!

And aren't sister visits the BEST?!?!?! I love it when Lizzy comes to visit me. We laugh, we binge watch TV, you know the drill. Makes life sweet! :-)

We learned in teacher training for preschool last week about making lists for kids. They said most 3 year olds can only handle 2 items on the list, then to move it up to 3 for 4 year olds. So I guess Scarlett is very advanced.

I have to say, I'm shocked that you haven't bedazzled the undies if that's what you're seeing all day. ;)

Great video posts! What great creative play all of you do. I love that you are right there with the girls. Love, Mom G. (Sometimes I'm on Dad's side of the computer and too lazy to sign in to my side.)
