Jake's Talk

Jake had the opportunity to speak in Sacrament meeting this past Sunday.  He did AMAZING!  Scarlett kept yelling "Dad!"  "Da-Da!"  "Daddy!"  and pointing at him.  It was really cute.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes from his talk...

We are the Glauser family.  Many people don't pronounce our last name correctly, so I thought of some rhymes to help you:
  • For the people who love clothes: trouser
  • For the dog lovers out there: schnauzer
  • For the cat lovers: mouser
  • For the people who are between the ages of ~35 and 90 years old: Doogey Houser
  • For the Nintendo lovers: Bowser
  • For the children of the 1980’s: Wowzer as in, “WOWZER! Dr. Claw is at it again.” (Inspector Gadget)
His talk was based on President Monson’s April, 2008 General Conference address entitled “Examples of Righteousness.”
“We have been placed on earth in troubled times. We live in a complex world with currents of conflict everywhere to be found. Political machinations ruin the stability of nations, despots grasp for power, and segments of society seem forever downtrodden, deprived of opportunity, and left with a feeling of failure.
We...can make a difference. When we qualify for the help of the Lord, ..we can accomplish miracles in His holy service. Our opportunities are without limit.”
Bruce R. McConkie said:
"The atonement of Christ is the most basic and fundamental doctrine of the gospel, and it is the least understood of all our revealed truths. Many of us have a superficial knowledge and rely upon the Lord and his goodness to see us through the trials and perils of life. But if we are to have faith like Enoch and Elijah we must believe what they believed, know what they knew, and live as they lived."

I spoke in sacrament meeting this week too! And my talk was based on President Monson's talk! But not his 2008 talk. It was his 2012 talk.
