I took lots of pictures for us, but I thought I would post them here... in case you wanted to browse through them. I even used my camera's panoramic picture feature a few times! Jake and I are already planning all the fun things we're going to do to our home! If everything goes according to plan, our closing date is July 31!!!
During the inspection Scarlett went to one of my new friend's homes. She lives really close to our house. I'm really grateful there are awesome ladies that will live close by. It will be so much fun!!!
After the inspection Jake, Scarlett and I went to our Broker and locked in our interest rate. Last week the rates fell and they are super great right now! We were so happy with the rate we got and how everything is working out. I had faith that moving to Ford was the right decision for us, but these little tender mercies help us feel that we're in the right place.
If you are buying your first home, I would recommend Home Buying for Dummies and Mortgage Ripoffs and Money Savers. The first book is a great overview of the process. I also really liked the section on home inspections (make sure you find a full time home inspector who carries error and omissions insurance). The second book is AMAZING. Our mortgage broker keeps telling me "you must know someone in the business" and "I wish all my clients were as on top of things as you guys are." It's all from this book. I literally saved us ~$5000 in closing costs and ~0.5% on our rate from following her steps! Not even kidding! And it doesn't even take that long! I'm sure there are more wonderful resources out there, but these worked great for me!

I love the rear entry to the garages, as well as the deck, hot tub, peaked ceiling in the master bedroom, awesome walk-in closet, and so on! The lack of fences makes it feel like you live in a big park. I hope you like that and that it doesn't become annoying. So glad the process is going well.
Thanks! The hot tub isn't staying, but considering it has a leak (grass was soggy) and I hate swimming, I'm glad they're taking it! Plus, that gravel area would be a great place for a sandbox, don't you think?!
Also, Mary - I think we'll be in major need of your professional landscaping skills! It's a LOT of grass. We need some trees and bushes to help close it in and add some privacy. I guess we can talk more once we actually own the place ;-)
Sadly, I don't have professional landscaping skills. I'm just an amateur. But I'm happy to help! I have a couple ideas for a covered sandbox. When you know the dimensions of the yard, I can put a sketch together. Between email and Pinterest, we'll come up with a plan you like. :)
Super thanks for the heads up! I'll look at those books when starting to consider finding a place.
Glad to hear that the moving/house buying went well. What a relief!!!
So happy for you. looks like a lovely home.
your house is AWESOME!
Ohh- I am getting so excited for you. I think I would like a little landscaping to define your space, maybe not right around the borders but something where if you have a backyard party, the whole neighborhood wonders why they weren't invited. But I also like the open feel of it. Scarlett should have a good time playing. Especially loved the huge walk-in closet. I don't think I will have one of those in my lifetime. Thanks for the great pics. I want to hear more details when we visit re: saving $5k
Welcome to the HUGE Master Closet club.....You are going to LOVE IT!!!! The house looks very nice. You guys picked the perfect starter home. Can't wait to come see it in person. 8~)
Beautiful house! So glad that things are going well for you guys!!
Andres just asked if we can move in with you. Something to think about... :-)
