Today was a loooong day of traveling. We woke up, got everything packed, and said goodbyes to our loved ones (we miss you already!)
Scarlett slept through most of the action. She woke up when they made me pick her up and carry her through the metal detector.
She got a lot of energy out before boarding by running around the airport and watching the planes.
She was great on the plane (we were pretty nervous). We got an awesome deal on upgrading to first class - and it saved us money cause we had 5 checked bags! It really helped to have all the extra room, TVs, drinks, and meals - we even got a special toddler meal for Scarlett with a cheese sandwich, fruit, and crackers.
She spent a lot of time plugging and unplugging our headphones - thanks for being so helpful little lady!
The last hour of the flight she was out like a light! :-) She even slept through landing.
Yes, we need all this stuff.
The phone was a big hit!
Getting more wiggles out.
I'm glad the trip went well. It's so weird to be in a foreign place and to know this is our new home. I think it will start to feel real when we're not sleeping in a hotel.

For me it always starts to feel real after we've been to church, and none of our favorite crazy people from church are in the new ward. And then JC leaves on a trip and I'm alone with the kids in a new place, finding the Urgent Care center, figuring out how to get home from the grocery store when I can't make a left out of the parking lot and go back the way I came, all the while there is a longing to just go home nagging in the back of my mind. For me, all those little things build up and then, one day, it hits me: we can't go home, because we are home.
Glad the travel day went well. :-) Have fun getting to know your new city and getting settled in. The Detroit Zoo has a neat penguin exhibit. Toledo, which isn't very far from Detroit, has a great zoo with a really awesome hippo exhibit, and it also has a couple of fun children's museums/science museums/etc that Javi and I had a great time at, back in the day. If you ever get down to Indianapolis, they have the best children's museum I've been to anywhere - really, really excellent.
I think you'll like the midwest. :-)
Welcome home!
I'm so glad the travel went well for all of you. Was the hotel just for one night? Can't wait to see pictures of your new--temporary--townhome.
