Crocodiles and Sailors

Siena, Jaide, and Scarlett had their ballet recital.  The twirls were so excited to dance on a stage in their new costumes.  Here are their ballet photos (the twirls were so tired and anxious that day.)

Look at these cute little crocodiles (Siena on the left was near tears before this picture).

We were at ballet one day and we went into the locker room for a potty break.  While we were in there a completely naked older Chinese lady walked in front of us.  Scarlett exclaimed "Well that was unexpected!"  hahahaha!  Yes it was.

Skye watched Siena and Jaide practice their dance so many times that she actually learned it!!!  Watch this cute video of Skye dancing with her sisters.  Also, the girls will lift themselves to the handrails in the elevator to sit on while we ride up.  I'm impressed at their arm strength!

We had fun at the dress rehearsal.  The recital is in a local high school and the girls loved being on a real stage.

The twirls had one tap dance number, "Never Smile at a Crocodile".  I was the stage mom so I got to watch the show from the sidelines.  Then I had all the girls until the finale.  We went into the balcony and watched the second half of the show.  Luckily a mom gave me Oreos for the girls, otherwise I don't know how I would have kept them all quiet!  Their friends Marisa and Amber from our ward were in their class.

The video of their dance.  Jaide is on the very right, Siena is next to her.

Scarlett's first dance was a ballet routine as "Raggedy Ann".

Then Scarlett's tap dance was called "Sea Cruise".  Scarlett got to dance with her friends Kaylie and Evelyn from our ward.  That sailor outfit was a huge pain to iron but it was sure cute on them!

The Finale every year is now called "Katie's Dance" after Mrs. Roy who passed away in 2016.

Here's a few pictures from after the show.  The recital was on a Sunday - Mother's Day to be specific.  Here's a post I wrote for Facebook:
I spent Mother's Day backstage. First my girls sang in church with the primary while I sat behind them and played the piano. Then we had their annual ballet recital and I was off-stage in the curtains ushering a bunch of sparkly crocodiles around. At first I was annoyed that I didn't get to enjoy their performances from the audience. But I realized that's not your job as the mom. My job allows me to be backstage giving them high-fives after a job well done, I get to give them encouragement when they are nervous, I get to chat with them during practices and all the driving in between, I get to cheer for their victories and be the first arms they run to after a defeat, I get to enjoy watching them grow and progress, I get to see it all. And I love it. I'm grateful to our moms who supported us backstage and continue to support us during all our ups and downs. I had no idea being a mom would be so exhausting, so rewarding, and so so sweaty! Thank you Mom Seaver & Mom Glauser!
You might notice that there are some extra family members here in the photo.  More about their visit in the next post...

And in case you wanted a better view of our tiny dancers, here are some close up videos of the girls during ballet practice.

Blogs are great because I can eventually catch up with what you family is doing (or has done--ten months ago!).

I LOVE the video with Skye dancing. How nice that you buy three tuitions and get one free. ;-) She knew that dance well enough to be on stage with her sisters. So cute!

Girls in tutus are adorable. And your sentiments about motherhood putting us behind that scenes where all the meaningful action is are right on. Thanks for putting it into words.

I sure love your family!
