Grammy came to celebrate the Twirls' 4th bday and Skye's 1st bday. I L.O.V.E.D having her here! Someone to rock kids to bed and let me take naps. Oh blessed naps!!! The girls loved having here too. Skye took a few minutes to warm up to her. But after Grammy fed her, she liked her. After Grammy released her from her crib-prison the next morning, she loved her! Here are a few conversations with Grammy:
- Scarlett to Grammy "I'm so glad you are here."
- During Grammy Movie Night (aka parent date night) they had a picnic on the living room floor. Grammy went to the kitchen to get Skye some baby food. When she got back Jaide said, "Skye likes blueberries." ["She does?"] "Yes, I gave her one," replied Jaide. She was correct, Skye did enjoy that blueberry.
- Scarlett to Grammy: "What's your name?" ["Karry."] To a new friend she met at the mall play place: "You can call my Grammy 'Karry'."
- Scarlett to Grammy: "Is there a color called Karry?" ["No."] "oohhh" in a sad tone.
- Jaide: "Are you having a baby, Grammy?" ["No."] A few minutes later she looks at Grammy with doubt in her eyes as she says, "But your stomach is big." You can always count on a little body shaming from my girls. Even I experience the sting that is their honest curiosity. haha!
- Scarlett as she watched Grammy get dressed: "Grammy your bra makes your boobs look bigger and... umm... stronger." haha!
More quotes from the older girls:
- Grammy to Siena: "Let's get some new jammies while I'm here. Do you want to come pick them out?" Siena: "No, I want it to be a SURPRISE!".
- Grammy to Jaide: "Let's get some new jammies while I'm here. Do you want to come pick them out? Jaide: "Yes, I want to pick them out." haha! They definitely have their own personalities!
- While playing the twirls bonked their heads together. Then they took turns kissing each other's owies on their heads. Cute!
- Scarlett: "Aunt Kandy's house has everything. An exercise room for Uncle Dave, a theatre room, a big bathroom for lots of people, a swimming pool and a playground!!!" (She remember's Kandy's clubhouse haha!)
- Jaide: "I want a Cheetah." Grammy starts searching for a Cheetah TV show. Jaide gets really frustrated and finally says "I want a snack, I want a Cheetah!" Grammy happy she figures out that Cheetah was really Cheetos!
- Siena was sitting next to Grammy on the couch. She randomly looks up at her and says, "I love Jesus." Then turns and starts watching TV again.
- Scarlett: "Jesus can heal us, he made this cut on my foot heal fast."
The last few days of Grammy's trip Grumple came to join her. We were eagerly awaiting his arrival. Siena brought Grammy a stuffed monkey that has a rubber-band precariously sticking out from it's arm. She tries to get it back in and fails. Siena says, "We'll have Grumple fix it, he is a good fixer."
Grumple decided to rent a car big enough for everyone to ride in together. A 15 passenger Fort Transit! We called it the Party Bus! The girls loved riding in it. They especially liked getting in/out from the back of the bus - just for fun!
Grammy and Grumple took all the girls to drop Scarlett off at school one morning. My mom sent me a text of what happened: We stopped to let Scarlett out, but there was an empty car length in front of us and the parking aids started furiously waving Grumple Forward. He said, "Oh sh!t!" Irritated at them for not letting him drop his princess off closer to the door. Then we hear from the backseat Jaide says, "Oh sh!t." haha! oops!!! Utah words. (thank goodness she hasn't said it again!)
Siena looked through Grammy's phone and notices the background picture is of both Grammy and Grumple. Siena then said "Grammy your phone is beautiful because it has a picture of you and Grumple."
Our next door neighbor boys came over to play one day when Grammy was here. They asked her "when is Grumple going to be here?" haha! They were so excited when he finally was here to play with them!
While Jaide and Grumple were sitting at the kitchen table the last day of his trip: "I'm gonna miss you so so so so much."
Grammy was really sick one day. My dad and I went to the basement to take some measurements before we went to IKEA. Scarlett went down before us to tell Grammy that we were coming to measure some things. Then she patted her on and said it would be okay, then kissed her on the cheek. *sweet*
COSTCO!!! We went twice while my mom was in town. We just happened to go the first time on a great sample day. They all love that place now! Siena keeps telling me "I want to go back to Costco." haha! One day I noticed the twirls were playing together in the toy room. I listened to their game, it was called "Hot Dog Store." haha! COSTCO FTW!
For Siena and Jaide's birthday Jake and I decided to get them Plasma Cars (we call them Wiggle Cars). Have you seen these things? They are so fun! Even I took a spin (it was really sad how slow I was, I swear I could hear the bearings groan). We even got one for Skye for her bday, Scarlett is keeping it warmed up for her. One unexpected side effect: the twirls dragged holes in their crocs. They use their feet to scoot forward if they want to go fast/uphill/over a bump/etc. Those crocs didn't stand a chance with all that friction. Duct tape to the rescue! Now they are "wiggle car shoes."
The unveiling of the wiggle cars...
Grumple tow...
Grammy tow...
More outside fun with Grammy. The twirls loved taking turns pulling each other in the wagon in a game they called "puppy train" complete with an imaginary ticket exchange to get aboard the wagon. One of our neighbors are selling their home and the for sale sign has a puppy on it. The twirls just had to walk down to it every day and pretend to be puppies.
We already miss you Grammy and Grumple! We can't wait for your next visit!!!

What a wonderful visit!! Isn't it nice to have extra hands that aren't burned out from childcare??
I can't believe how big the twins are getting! The last couple of posts I've been surprised to see so many big kids in the pictures - their baby faces are growing up!!
