Return of the Grand Glausers

We were so excited to have Grandma and Grandpa Glauser come visit us last month!!!  We haven't seen them since before they left for their mission in Russia.

With all the extra adults we decided to venture over to the Detroit Zoo.  It was fun to have a 1:1 adult:kid ratio!

I love Skye's eyes (we walked into a dark room)!  Surprise!

How do you tell the difference between an alligator and a crocodile?
You'll see one later and one in a while.  hahaha!!!!

The Zoo just redid their penguin exhibit.  It was awesome!  The girls loved walking in the tunnels and watching them swim.  Even Skye enjoyed it!

The main reason we went to the zoo was to check out the butterfly room.  My girls LOVE butterflies.  Luckily for them they got to go through twice (once while Grandma stayed out with Skye and once while I did - no strollers allowed).

A butterfly even landed on Grandpa's leg!

Fun in the basement...

Grandpa taught the twirls this magic trick!  hahaha!!!!!!

Fun outside...

Jake showing his parents his trebuchet:

We loved having Grandma and Grandpa here!  So fun to talk about all their exotic Russian adventures.  It made me really appreciate America and all the infrastructure/food/clean water/government/weather that we enjoy here (at least til after this election).  And we loved introducing them to our angel baby!  Their trip was far too short!  We're excited to see them again in a few weeks!!!

I always loved the penguin exhibit at the Detroit zoo! I wish we were close enough to see the new one. Looks very cool!

Have you been to the Toledo zoo? It was the same distance for me in Ann Arbor to go to Toledo as it was to go to Detroit. They used to have a super awesome hippo exhibit. You could walk around the back of the exhibit and be below ground and watch them swim. Amazing. :-)
