Willow Run Air Show

Sooooooo you may be wondering if we're still alive.  The answer is yes!  Things have been crazy and now I'm like 3 months behind in blogging.  I'm trying to catch up - give me like another 3 months and I think we will be there.  haha!  I hope not!  But I promise I'm working on it!  I just downloaded all those photos off my camera... so many fun memories to sort through!

At the end of August the airport by my house hosted their annual air show: Thunder Over Michigan.  This year they featured the US Navy Blue Angels.  Jake and I thought about taking the girls but since they were terrified while watching fireworks we decided not to risk spending the money.  We live less than 3 miles from Willow Run so we decided to invite some of our friends over on Saturday to watch from our backyard.  Luckily for the girls and me the Blue Angels practiced twice that week before the show.  It was AMAZING and SO LOUD!!  This jet engine engineer was geeking out!

I shot a ton of video and put them together for you - you are so lucky!  ;-)  Turn your volume way up to get an idea of how loud and amazing it was: (PS - sorry I lost focus a little and a few times I was watching them and not paying attention to my camera)

Here are some shots from our little BBQ that Sat.  We were lucky that the rain stopped just in time for the big show.  We invited a new family that just moved into our ward - yay friends!

I love that my girls love airplanes.  They just loved the show and the roar of the engines!  A few days later I woke up to Scarlett standing next to me like this and saying "I'm an airplane!  Look at my jet engine hands!"  *SO PROUD!*

So fun to see these pixs. Sure enjoyed the Blue Angels; they are amazing. The flyby that gets me is when 5 planes are flying so close together it looks like one. Amazing. Also, what a great neighborhood BBQ. Hope your new friends enjoy your family and visa versa. Cute baby that Scarlett was holding. We arrived safely in Turkey about 4 hrs. ago and are in a hotel right on the Mediterrean; really wish I had a swimsuit because we have a free day tomorrow with a beautiful pool and beach. ACK! Who would have thought to bring a swimsuit to Russia. Anyway---thanks for sharing.

So cool! Getting a ride with the Blue Angels is on my bucket list. I know it's not likely, so I'll settle for a ride in a jet. There's some Russian ones you can ride in out of CA. So, if you drew my name for Christmas, why don't you go ahead and see what you can do about that. Also on my list is to see the northern lights. See, now you have options

Very cool that you could see the show from your yard! I've never been to a show, but what I've seen from a distance was really loud.

I need to follow your example and invite more people over. I'm awful about that!!
