June Review: Fun with Friends

Scarlett always lets me know when she sees "my friends - the boys" outside playing.  They are our neighbors behind us.  They often come over when we're on our deck playing.  They were all putting rocks in the water table.  Scarlett told me she was making wishes: "I wish I could touch a rainbow all the time.  I wish mommy could catch a rainbow next year."  Rainbows are very important to us.

We hung out with the Sawayas.  Butterfly catch:

James is often overwhelmed by the estrogen:

Food and TV:

Reading at the library:

Tea parties and baby snuggles:

More baby snuggles with Knock Knox:

Coloring Jamie's hair.  And the last time we saw Knock Knox before they moved to Arkansas.  *real tears!*

Hanging with the Cannons.  We were all in the backyard playing on the play set.  Rachel went inside to take Blake to the bathroom.  When they came back outside Rachel closed my sliding door behind her.  I had propped up the long plastic bar vertically in the tracks and when she closed the door there was just enough vibration to knock it down inside the door tracks.  Uh oh!  We were locked out of the house without our phones!  Thank goodness we have a spare key hidden so that I could break back in the garage!  haha!  Lesson learned: don't put the plastic bar in the door track!

Fun with the Furness Family (we didn't plan all the yellow):

Scarlett and Lyla made a rocket ship, that turned into a boat, that turned into a "temple" so they could get married when they are grown up.  Cute!

My friend Whitney had surgery and was hopped up on pain killers for a few days.  I took her kids one day so she could sleep and recover.  Poor Jace was NOT happy to be away from his mom all day.  He finally fell asleep on my lap.  I took a selfie to prove to Whitney that things were actually ok.  Pictures are more convincing than texts ;-)

I held the Kliemann's twin boys during Sunday School one day.  Holding both babies brought back some serious feelings!  They told me that they left the house that morning and all 3 of their kids were screaming!  They said  "we watched the Glausers do this every Sunday, we can do this too."  I remember when we were in that phase I told Bishop Gillespie that I didn't know why we even bothered coming to church sometimes cause we were just in the hall the whole time.  He told us that not only are we setting a good example for our family, but for the ward too.  Other people see how hard it is, but they see that we're still there.  So it was nice for the Kliemanns to confirm what our Late Bishop told us two years ago.

Scarlett and I drove to Ferndale to visit Cassondra and go to her 2 yr old's Curious George bday pty (hence the headbands).  Fun fun!

Aw, look at you with those baby twins! And look at you setting a good example!

I always remind myself that we're suffering through church (on those suffering weeks/months/years) because that is what it takes to get them to the temple. It will all be worth it someday!! And even if I'm all wrapped up in my own kid drama and not spiritually getting much out of church, I can still give something - a smile, words of encouragement to someone who is struggling, grabbing the crying baby while the mom takes out the screaming toddler. :-)
