January Wrap-Up

So I am way behind on blogging.  There's so much happening in our life that I want to share with all of you (no, I'm not pregnant, don't even go there).  But I feel like I need to keep this chronological if I can.  So instead of doing a bunch of posts like I had planned, I'm cramming all of the rest of January in this long post.  I'll probably do something similar for Feb.  I have TONS of pictures for these two months.  I blame Jami.  And me.  And the weather.  We're stuck inside all day - what else is there to do but take lots of photos!

Hanging out with our friends:

One evening Jake turned on the shower for the girls (sometimes we do a shower if it's late).  While he was helping Siena get her shirt off, Jaide ran into the shower with all her clothes on!  Jake ran over to get her out while I took Siena's pants off then she ran over to the shower.  I grabbed her just in time to snatch her diaper off before she ran into the water.  I just turned around and threw the diaper in the trash then turned back to help the girls get something in the shower.  Jake asked what was on the floor.  I turned around and saw a little trail of poop balls from Siena's diaper.  It was an eventful 2 minutes!  Soaking wet clothes and a poop incident... an "incidoodie".

Jami took these photos of the girls with their "Elvis curls" back in October.  I LOVE the photo of Scarlett looking at her hair - precious!
So while Jami was here again she took new hair pics - more Whoville style.

One morning I woke up and heard everyone playing downstairs.  I army crawled out of our room and took some spy shots of the action.
After Jami left and Jake was back at work Scarlett looked around and asked me "why is there only one grown up?"  I've been asking myself the same question....

The most dangerous part of our slide is when they climb to the top and try and get their legs in front of them.  So we're trying to teach the twirls to use the slide head first.  By going head first they are actually safer!  I used my twin nursing pillow at the bottom til they figured it out.  And Scarlett wanted me to help her like I was helping the twirls, I started pushing her down but since she was "maked" her belly was stuck to the slide *err err squeak err err err*.

Scarlett told me "I want to be a hundred years old like my daddy so I can use the 'puter."

Jake helped Scarlett mix up some glow in the dark slime (thanks Grammy!)

The girls and I had lots of fun this month.  Scarlett got to "slide" into her jammies.  The twirls used my body as a jungle gym - many times.  We rode the horse in Meijer.  Scarlett loves to play "airplane".

I went to a chiropractor cause my neck was KILLING me.  Well a few weeks prior to this we gave the twirls our old latex pillows for their beds (I LOVE those things, but we were ready for new pillows).  We got king sized pillows to replace them and they were way thicker than the queen pillows.  Neither of us has had a good night sleep since then.  We even thought of sneaking in the the twirls' room and stealing our pillows back, but we decided that would be cruel - especially cause they were sleeping like an extra hour when the first got them.  So comfy!  We just tried different pillows from around the house.  Finally my back was so back one night that I told Jake I HAD to see a chiropractor the next day.  After he worked on my back for a bit, he told me that my pain was actually from my neck.  He compared my xray to an ideal spine and I could clearly see how off my neck is.  I ordered a fancy neck pillow that night.  I had one when I was a teenager but I forgot about it.  (Warning, this pillow is really small.  I think I probably could have bought the next size up and been ok, but it still fits me.)  It's been great!  It took some time to get used to, but I really think it's helping.  I have a small hump on the back of my neck where my spine curves out (part of my problem) and I think that it's actually gone down since I've used this pillow!

Scarlett let her friend borrow her marble toy for a few days (while his mom was really morning sick).  It's her fave toy and it was really rough for her to part with it, but it was a good lesson for her to learn about service.  And her friend LOVES to come over and play with this.  Anyways, I told her that after we dropped it off I would make waffles for dinner (especially since the only homemade leftovers in our fridge was a tupperware of frosting).  She was so happy to get it back!  We've been playing "Marble City" in this playpen.  It keeps all the marbles in one place so I don't have to worry about them rolling away where the twirls will find them later.

True to my word: waffles.  Can you have waffles without whipping cream?  That's our fave part!

These girls love to eat!  After Jami left Scarlett asked if she could have her old high chair from the basement in the kitchen.  At first I didn't want to, but really it doesn't hurt anything.  And we're all kind of struggling without Jami and Jake home all day, so if this helps then it's worth it.  Well, it's March now and the high chair is still in our kitchen.  I think I might tell her we have to put it away before her birthday.  Mainly cause I'm sick of having so many dang high chairs to clean and maneuver around!

When we are feeling a little bored being inside all day, sometimes we have indoor picnics.

Jake trying to finish his 1lb package of Yorks from Christmas.  He told me after eating them that he's on a "York Break" for a little while.

Scarlett loves to lick the batter!  One Sunday we were having hot chocolate and I accidentally spilled it all over her!  (luckily hers was only lukewarm chocolate).  Oopsie Daisy!  Jake grabbed a beach towel and I burrito-wrapped her and took her up to the shower.  Hot chocolate, vomit, it's all the same technique.  One just smells significantly better!

Scarlett came in my room one morning and said "Mom, you have 10 seconds to get out of bed.  1 2 3.."  She's using my own tricks against me!  Other funny things she said in January:

  • "I'm a good witch: I make good choices and don't turn people into frogs."
  • (starting her prayer) "On your mark, uh.... I mean Heavenly Father."
  • "I'm hungry, I have a big appetite!  Can I have some gruella (granola)?"
  • "Can I do some arc (art)?"
  • When a friend of mine came over, Scarlett asked her "Are you thirsty?  Can I get you a water bottle?"
  • "That's not goody good." (from Daisy Duck - she uses this phrase a lot)
  • While Jami was here she taught Scarlett a little sign language.  They even facetimed Berlyn and Braxtyn to sign (both of her cousins are learning ASL in school).  After signing one night Scarlett looked at her stuffed dog and then told Jami "Marshall knows sign language, that's why he can't hear me and talk to me!"
Sometimes Scarlett stutters.  I've been told that it's a normal phase - really she's just talking faster than she's thinking.  But sometimes it gets bad - like when she's really excited about something.  I have to tell her to take a deep breath and think about it first.

All dressed to go to Hobby Lobby with mom.  Apparently going to Hob Lob means she gets to pick whatever she wants to wear.  She even got to pick whatever car seat to sit in.

Mom & Dad Glauser sent the girls Russian Nesting Dolls (Matryoshka Dolls) for Christmas.  For Scarlett's last bday they sent her these early reading books.  One of the books happened to be about Russian Nesting Dolls - before they even had their mission call!!!  How random!?!  Scarlett loves when I make a towel flower on her head.

The twirls LOVE their new bean bags.  Jaide loves to dive between them.  They just really like to chillax in the mornings when they wake up.

They also love to dance!  Basically anytime they do anything together I have to take a photo - it's just "two" cute!

I love Jaide's little pose on the couch!  The necklace that Siena is wearing is made of blue beads that I found in Jake's old stuff.  I asked them where they came from... he bought them as ammo for his blow gun!  haha!  Well now they are a fashion accessory (AND a super spy gadget!).  The twirls love to play in the tub when there is a slow trickle of water.  It's what they do while I get Scarlett all dried off.  It doesn't matter how cold it gets, they still like to play in that little stream.

Playing dress up.

Hanging out - in hobby lobby and in the basement.

Using diaper wipes to clean off the cabinets.  Just a normal evening for these clean freaks.  Really the twirls just like to follow Scarlett around and copy her!

In the morning Scarlett will go play with the twirls.  One morning they were all giggling a ton so I turned on the dropcam.  Scarlett gave them their toothbrushes and was teaching them about flossing.  We take our oral care very seriously around here.

Scarlett always asks if she can go on a 'ate (date) with us when we go out.  So one night we decided to go on a Family 'ate to Chilis.  The worst part was waiting by the door with the frigid air blowing in.  But once we were at our table things went pretty well.  It was cute when Scarlett made us say a blessing on our dinner.

I love the pictures of you throwing your cast-wearing daughter head first down the slide ;) And I love the airplane picture of Scarlett. My girls can't believe how much hair she has! I'm glad we're not the only ones who eat whipped cream that way. My kids are totally jealous of your TV trays. And lastly, congratulations on the clothing front. It looks like Scarlett's making good progress with her New Year's Resolution :)

haha, well the cast technically makes her arm stronger than normal.. (right?)

I can't believer her hair either!

The TV trays are from Hob Lob (of course) they're like $6 and come in tons of colors. Plus you can use the 40% off app.

The clothing is still a daily struggle. We threaten, bribe, force, and plead. Eventually it will click.
