The first day at the track they invite all the local dealers to come test out the cars. Then the second day is open to the general public. Jake just has to be there for the first day. They give a presentation to the dealers about the 2015 model year highlights. Jake's job is to give the presentation about the new Mustang. Then the rest of the day he hangs out by their prototype model and answers questions about it. When he was in Los Angeles he presented to 170 dealers!
Well this week he went to Columbus, Ohio. Since it was close he got a company car and just drove down there. The event was at OSU. In addition to all the normal things he does they had a new twist: the news was there. Good Day Columbus was on site all morning. I woke up at 6:30 so I could stream it live - just in case I got to see Jake. Well at 9:50 I got a little surprise! Check out this video clip:
BooYa! "Jake from Ford" is my husband! That's right! I was so nervous for him but I thought he did great!!! Scarlett was in the room when this segment came on and she said "hey, that's my daddy!!!"
After the event he drove home (in a gorgeous 2014 Shelby Mustang). About half way home Jake pulled into a gas station and took a nap (he was up really late last night.... watching Caddy Shack. We kept texting as we both finished our shows at an irresponsible hour). When he woke up from his cat nap he went in the gas station to get a drink. As he was walking out he noticed a cop car next to his mustang. The cop pointed to Jake and motioned for him to come over to his car. The cop rolled down his window and said "Sir, I'm going to need the keys to that vehicle." Jake's reply was "uhhhhh" as his mind was racing a million miles per minute trying to figure out what was wrong. Then the cop interjected "Seriously, I'm going to need those keys..." *awkward pause* "...cause that's a totally awesome car!" They both started laughing (I'm sure Jake was just so relieved) and they chatted about cars for a minute. The cop even showed Jake photos on his cell phone of his '67 fastback mustang! hahaha!
Luckily for the next little while Jake's coworkers will be doing the EcoBoost Challenge and he'll be able to stay home. Which I think we're all looking forward to (except I think Jake will miss waking up to the Holiday Inn Express cinnamon rolls).

I always figured the that the car companies send out to talk about their cars are marketers or models who are just trained with what to say. I didn't know they were actual engineers who know what they're talking about. Good to know!
Go Jake! Great job - that is very cool!
Now my boys are all impressed that I have a famous cousin. :-)
Seriously, this job just keeps sounding cooler and cooler! My question though, every time I see those ads, is what percentage of the people choose the Fords? Obviously Ford only shows those reactions, but I want to know how many other reactions there are. Soooooo?
Again, that was me with someone else signed into my computer. You better bet I'm going to get my comment credit! Do I get credit for two comments on this one? I really want your top commenter prize.
Woo-hoo & I'm the mother of "Jake from Ford". Very cool interview; Jacob, you did great.
The story with the police officer is great! I thought it was pretty funny that Jake made a good joke about the khakis, and then the reporter still moved forward with his less-funny joke about needing the insurance. I guess the insurance joke segued more easily into his story. Did you notice that Jake from State Farm walked through near the end of the news story?
