My Little Girly Girl!

Yes, Scarlett like to watch TV.  We moved our old TV into our bedroom and bought a Roku to stream our Amazon Prime.  It's been wonderful.  Most mornings when she wakes up she comes into our bed and watches an episode of Blues Clues before I get up to make breakfast.  I love that she loves that show.  It reminds me of all the mornings I spent with James watching Blue and her adventures.  (side note: my mom texted me a picture of their bed and all the pillows she got for it... so I collected all our pillows in our house and sent her this picture)

She has started having tantrums.  :-(  She'll squeal at the top of her lungs and throw her head back.  Not fun.  Usually they're related to not getting a treat when she wants in combination with being overtired.  Or when I make her do something against her will (like put on her coat when we leave a friend's house).  Those sweet moments make me feel like the mother of the year *sarcasm*.

She really likes her routine.  Especially at night.  But lately for her naps I've been rocking her to sleep.  I realized that these are the last few months it will just be the two of us during the day.  And that my lap is rapidly disappearing.  So I decided I wanted to cuddle her and hold her as much as possible and, since she isn't a cuddly girl, nap time seemed to be the best solution. Well this threw off her routine and I've suffered the consequences.  She wants me to rock her to sleep at bed time and even if she wakes up in the middle of the night.  And if I leave her in her crib to cry it out she'll just proceed to scream more and more frantically and throw everything out of her crib onto the floor.  Ugh.  So I guess that's over.

In the mornings she'll wake up and play in her crib for a few minutes before yelling "mom" for me to come get her.  She's realized that she can jump on her bed (we've got bruises to prove it).  Well one morning I heard her playing in her room and I heard "Stuck!  Stuck!  Help!"  So I ran in there thinking she had gotten a limb caught in the wood slats.  But no, it was just that she couldn't get her jammies off of her legs.  Yep, that's right... she is into undressing herself.  Luckily she hasn't taken her diaper off at night.  But I think that's the logical next step.  We'll see...

Scarlett has been using the words "funny" or "happy" lately.  I need to teach her "bored" - I think we would get a lot of mileage from that word.  When something is new and cool to her she'll say "ooo-ooo-ooo" (low pitch-high pitch-low pitch).  It's hilarious.  Oh, and she's really into kissing on the lips these days.

We talk a lot about the babies.  She's finally realized that they are in mommy's belly, not hers.  We practice with her baby dolls how to be "so soft" with the babies.  We pat them to sleep and use soft whispers around them.  She is sooo cute with them.  She even gets her fake baby food jar and pretends to put lotion on them!  When we babysit our friend's baby she will pat her softly on the leg and say "shhh".  Hopefully that will last!  At least it's better then when she would drag the dolls around the room, throw them, and gouge their eyes!

If I call upstairs to "JACOB" Scarlett will copy me "AYE-CUB".  So we've been really careful to call each other "mom" and "dad".  Well Scarlett was at our friend's house while Jake and I were on a date and she kept calling my friend "mom".  haha!  So we're trying to work on names these days.

On Sunday I started braiding her bangs back so they would be out of her eyes while she watched Blues Clues (that's appropriate for Sundays, right???)   She was being so good sitting there (which doesn't happen a lot) so I just kept braiding.  I didn't really have a plan, I just enjoyed that she was letting me play with her hair.  So she ended up going to church with a hippie inspired head of braids.  Then to top it off - in nursery they had someone come play the guitar for music time and they said Scarlett was dancing around and moving along with the tunes.  My little free spirit!

I love that she loves nail polish.  About once a week I'll say "let's go paint our nails" and she'll run into my bathroom.  She very decidedly picks a new color and patiently lets me paint all 20 nails.  She's not great at letting them dry - luckily we use insta-dry colors so it's not too bad.

She also loves her hair accessories.  Often she'll find a bow and bring it to me to put it in her hair.  She likes wearing hats, headbands (ok, mostly bunny ear costume headbands, but still...), and little clips.  She'll look in the mirror and say "pretty".  What a little girly girl!  We still need to work on sitting still so mom can fix her hair.  And she starts crying if I get a comb within 2 inches of her head.

Oh and dressing up - she loves wearing tutus.  Or better yet - two tutus and a sword!!!

Is that Jake's tutu she's wearing?

Every tutu needs swords to go with it. And maybe a lightsaber?
