I'm sorry it's taken me so long to put this on my blog. Honestly, we've been quite sick. Scarlett's been to instacare twice this week with a double ear infection, terrible cough, and fever. I also had to go on antibiotics for a bronchial infection. You might think, how hard is it to write the word "boys" or "girls"? Well, when you put it that way it does seem pretty easy. But that's not what I wanted to do. Hours of pinning darling gender announcements on Pinterest have led me to believe that this is an obligation opportunity to try something cute. And let me tell you... I had elaborate plans which included helium balloons, freshly fallen snow, 3 toothpicks, glass vases ranging in size, a leather jacket and 2 quarts of milk. Ok - well most of that's not true... but I really did have big plans. But based on the fact that Scarlett and I haven't left the house in days and she's hardly eating I didn't think she was up for my idea. So we went with plan B.
Plan B involved a last minute idea Jake put together using junk that was laying around our house and we filmed it while all of us were in our jammies. After several tears (not all Scarlett's) and 30 min of trial and error - this is what we were left with. Pinterest can suck it! (just kidding Pinterest, I love you)
YAY FOR BABIES!!!
Actually this picture was taken a week ago and Scarlett was celebrating her apple-aligning skills, not the babies.
Oh, also, Jake wanted me to point out that we are in fact only having 2 babies. The many balls used in the video were added for dramatic effect and should not be inferred as a "Jake and Jen Plus Ten" announcement.
Hooray!!! Congrats!! I loved having my twin girls with my little Lizzy as a helper. I admit those first few months were rough, but now all three of them are the best of friends. It also helps that they are so close in clothing sizes. When Lizzy grows out of something, I just stick it right in the twins drawers!
I hope you enjoy your twin girls as much as I do mine!! Congrats!!!
All girls---we never doubted. Love the way you announced the sex. We are thrilled for your family. Well, we should be able to come up with plenty of female hand-me-downs if needed. Love, Mom and Dad
I keep trying to comment but your blog is blocking me out!! Anyway, I love it and I'm so excited about your baby girls. That's going to just be tremendous!
At last, after checking 10 times a day we finally know! Sorry you have been sick, hope all is much better. Wow three sets of twin great grand girls! We are super blessed! Lots of love Grandma
Congrats Jake and Jenni! Thanks for sharing the info in such a cute way. As a mother of twins and a grandmother of two sets of twin girls, I must also say congrats to Karry and Carl! You are in for so much fun! Jake and Jenni, your fun may not kick in for awhile, but it will eventually. The best twin advice my doctor gave me that I stupidly didn't take: Relax as much as you can now. Lay down every day, as much as possible, between 1 & 4 pm. Hire someone to come in once a week (or less...as needed) and do the heavy cleaning, like vacuuming, mopping, bathrooms, etc. Continue this after the babies are here for as long as you can. No sense wearing yourself out on mundane tasks when you are busy growing, nurturing, and nursing two beautiful babies...three adorable children. I don't remember a lot about life until the twins were about 16 months old. I know Emily and Jill had similar experiences.
I was excited to hear you have a class about parenting multiples. I think I was able to find ONE book at the library, and it really only talked about the pregnancy. Great for you to get some practical advice. Many advances in the world in the last 30 years!
Love you tons!
We continue to hope and pray for the best possible outcome for you sweet family, and for your sweet sister Jami.
So worth the wait! And you are more than welcome to have ten more little Scarlett's. She is adorable. Hopefully she is on the mend. And I have to add that I guessed right. :). Amber will be pumped to have two friends coming her way.
