102 degrees

Yes, yesterday it was a record breaking 102 degrees with 74% humidity.  I call that an "inside day".

But... some of my new ward friends invited Scarlett over to play in the water.  And since Scarlett had cabin fever, we jumped at the opportunity!  Even with the water we only lasted maybe 15 min before seeking refuge in the AC.

I remember our first summer in Wisconsin we didn't use the AC because we couldn't afford it. We'd be inside roasting and go outside to try to cool off, but it was just as bad outside. Then we'd think maybe it was cooler inside and we'd go in and it was awful there too. Heat + Humidity = awfulness

Thought of you this morning when someone from church declared that it isn't even humid here this year and I have no idea. Uh, I've lived humid places before, thanks...

I also thought of you, Jenni, when someone was explaining to me how I hadn't yet experienced a true New York summer day.

Uh, yep, yep I have...like that day when it was 105 (117 with humidity) at 10:00 am and sweat was pouring down my legs as I walked down the street in a suit? Yeah, I'm familiar with heat and humidity.

I have to say, I love how wonderfully soft my skin is since moving here, but I could do with a LITTLE bit less humidity in the summer. At least half of the reason I run AC is to dehumidify.

I'm so impressed that Scarlett managed any time at all outside before just melting!
