Our poor little girl has been sick for 2 weeks! First she caught a bad cold (runny nose, cough, super tired & lethargic). She started getting sick the day of her black eye and 5 shots. Poor girl! :-( It threw off my weening. In fact, I think she's been nursing more than before. I was so nervous about dehydration, 'cause she wasn't eating/drinking that I gave in and nursed her whenever she wanted. I also let her sleep in our bed and didn't make her 'cry it out' at all. oops!
Then last week she started having 'issues' (meaning we went through LOTS of diapers and laundry, if you know what I mean) and got a low grade fever. I took her to the doctor on Friday and they couldn't find anything wrong with her. Then over the weekend her fever went up to 102.8! I got some helpful fever tips from my FB friends (thanks!) and bought some ibuprofen to keep the fever down. On Monday morning I took her to the doctor AGAIN. She said that Scarlett probably caught Roseola at the end of her cold. Roseola is a super common virus in kids her age. It causes cold like symptoms, high fever for a several days, then a red rash. Sure enough last night she had a rash! The doctor said that people used to give babies Amoxicillin for the fever (thinking it is a bacteria), then the fever goes away (as it would have anyways) and the baby breaks out in a rash (like normal Roseola) but they would peg it as an Amoxicillin allergy! Interesting!
Luckily today she is much much much better! I think she was excited that she felt well cause she got into all sorts of rowdy trouble today!
A FEW RANDOM STORIES......................................
Baby Steps
Now that she's feeling a little better, she's been more brave with walking. Last night she even took a few steps by herself!
Spit Take
I found out that if I spewed water out of my mouth like a fountain - she thinks it's the funniest thing ever.
Remote Genius
Scarlett loves remotes. So we gave her an old one without batteries. She wasn't fooled. Anyways, the other day WordWorld was over and she started to whine (like usual) for us to restart it. We were all chatting and didn't act fast enough for her because she crawled over to the couch, grabbed the real remote, rewound the DVR, and pushed play. Then she put the remote down, crawled over to her couch, and quietly watched her show. Freaky! We all just sat there astonished at what happened! I have no idea if it was a coincidence or not... but it was crazy!
Cheerios Free-For-All
We were feeding her Chocolate Cheerios the other day from a zip lock bag. When we weren't looking she grabbed the bag and dumped them all over carpet. Then the next thing we knew Scarlett and Chumlee were scarfing them down as fast as they could. She was using both fists and trying to shove as many in her mouth as she could fit! It was hilarious! You'd think we don't feed her enough! (Note: they are made with artificial chocolate, so Chumlee was ok)

Parker got Roseola a couple weeks ago too! It totally freaked me out and I spent a lot of time on the phone with Grammy.
Aahhhh! She's walking! She is so adorable making those little steps.
And that's hilarious about the remote and WordWorld. Parker loves the remote too, but prefers to smash all the buttons at once. Scarlett is one smart lady!
For your Dr. Mom notes: Rubella is the other fever/rash disease common in babies and toddlers. It looks like Roseola, but I think the rash comes on at the same time as the fever instead of a couple days later. It can be bad for unborn fetuses, which is why people are immunized against it.
Those are great little stories. I'm wondering how you first discovered that spitting water entertains Scarlett. Did you laugh milk through your nose at an unexpected dinnertime joke? And the remote control story...I wouldn't be surprised if she could repeat that feat. She probably knows how to work that thing better than I could!
Oh, my word. Same thing happened to Jacob. When he was little, he had a high fever, was given amoxicillin and broke out in a rash. I always thought he was allergic to pcn. I bet he isn't. Which is good news, because it's cheaper than other antibiotics. Next time he needs it, give it a try and keep the epipen nearby. Love your little videos. I am amazed at how smart Scarlett is. Good thing she has a smart mommy & daddy who can keep up with her.
