Jake's had several people ask him if he wants to "try for that boy." Jake's response perfectly captures his attitude on the subject: "Why mess with perfection?"
Jake is just such a wonderful dad and he loves his little girls. I think that some dads might be wary of sharing their "manly" hobbies with their little daughters, but not Jake. He includes his girls in his adventures and is always teaching them new things. When I was growing up my dad made us all mow the lawn, change our car's oil, and help out in the garage. Didn't matter our gender, we had to all learn how to do everything (and I attribute a lot of that to my being a mechanical engineer). Jake's the same way, he's already pricing out child sized dirt bikes (he's still trying to convince me on that one...)
During December and the long holiday break our girls got a lot of time hanging out with dad. Even now that he's back at work, he comes home and takes them down to the basement to play basketball and jump on the trampoline. Jake does such a great job at playing and being fun - something that I admire in him.
We have this stomp rocket that Jake thought would be fun to use with his air compressor.
Jake was flying his quadcopter in the house and literally 2 minutes after I told him to be careful around the chandelier this happened:
So now he mostly practices his aerial stunts outside.
The girls helped Jake assemble his Bottle Rocket.
Jake handed Scarlett his phone to film the bottle rocket when they were outside, just watch what happens....
Playing with their little trebuchet.
Trebuchet in action:
The girls helping Jake stretch his back.
We had a surprise snow storm one day but forgot to put the window scraper back in the van after Jake vacuumed it out. So Jake used the next best thing: a little plastic flute. Unfortunately the plastic wasn't made for the extreme temperatures and stress, it didn't make it home in one piece...
Siena was being cute with her balloon puppies:
You can see some of the balloon animals in the background. Have you heard of GoldieBlox? They are engineering toys marketed toward girls. Love! The girls got the Dunk Tank this year for Christmas. Jake help them set it up...
Then they all took a turn dunking the puppy.
Scarlett kept saying "I want to be an engineer!".... *pride*
During nap time Jake and Scarlett put together this puzzle.
Jake took this video of the girls, they just love their yee haw hats!

What a great dad!
The stomp rocket - hahahaha! Holy crap ours goes so crazy high with stomping, I can't imagine how high it goes with the air compressor!!
Camping - I'm with you. Yech. I have found that the thing that makes it work is to go with a couple of other families that you really like, and make sure one family has kids a little older that love to baby sit and take care of the littles. :-)
Wonderful videos; can't believe the twirls are as big as they are. Jacob really is a great Dad; I love to see how much time he spends with them. This will give them self-confidence to do whatever they dream.
Are those jackets or dresses? Hopefully they still like Rainbow dash when they're 12 and the jackets fit them. :)
I think you accidentally said "unfortunately" the flute broke. Seems like a blessing to me!
Have you heard that Nate's drone already crashed? It's in the shop getting repaired now. Fortunately that means we get to spend even more money on it.
And I love all your little Enginerds. I have one so far and am hopeful for at least one more!
I hope Scarlett doesn't know how to hook the stomp rocket up to the air compresser by herself- I distinctly remember getting woke up by a flying rocket one morning.
So many fun events. Impromptu picnic in the car was a great idea- saved the day I'm sure.
I can't count how many times I'd come home and Carl would have put up a tent in the living room for you kids. Why is a tent so magical?
