Jake and I walked into the ultrasound place - Maternal Fetal Medicine. That's where I went for all my high-risk ultrasounds with the twirls every two weeks. When the tech came to get us (I recognized her from my many visits there) she asked how our twins and older daughter were doing. I told her I was so impressed that she remembered me - two and a half years later! She told us that our baby announcement is famous in their office. It's one of the ones that they get the most comments on. I told her I was surprised that they still have it - then she took us down the hall to their wall of announcements - there they are, smack in the middle!
We started our ultrasound. I get so nervous that we're going to hear bad news... we waited while she took a bunch of measurements. We have a healthy baby!!!!! Whewph! When she got down to the crotch she asked if we could tell. I could tell immediately that it was a GIRL!!!
Here is a photo of her feet (you can see little scratch lines where the girls were tickling her feet), her spine twice, and one of the front of her face. Then she snuggled into my placenta and wouldn't move so we didn't get a good front face picture. But I can tell she has my little pointy chin! Dang I've got some dominant genes!
My cousin Jennifer Seaver (the one who stole my name, haha!) has 4 boys. So really there is great harmony that the Jennifer Seavers would balance each other out!
The girls are excited for a sister. But mostly they are excited that we brought home balloons. We've already had one ceiling fan incident and one balloon fatality. Lots of tears were shed.
We can't wait to meet our sweet little baby this spring!

Yay! How perfect!
Now James and I feel intense pressure to make sure that we contribute some little boys to the Seaver family!
Guess, what? Walter is having a baby boy about the same time this girl makes her entrance! Still, I think you should feel the pressure to keep trying until you get a boy. So far, no one has had 5 kids without a boy, so it's pretty much a sure thing in 2.5 years. After all, someone needs to carry on the Alfred legend.
Yay!!! And now you get to hear " wow, 4 girls, you know 5th times the charm". Seriously, all one gender is soooooo easy. Yay Glauser girls!!!
Love the way you creatively announced Baby #4's gender. Love the way the girls are all involved as well. I'm not surprised that your last announcement is center stage on their board. Can't wait to hold this little bundle of joy coming from heaven.
Love, Mom G
I agree with Jenn--much better to have them all the same! Good for hand-me-down clothes, room sharing, etc. Although now you do get to hear "fifth time's the charm!" but I guess the upside to that is that if it had been a boy, you probably would've had to hear something equally dumb for the rest of your lives like, "oh, poor little man with all those sisters, odd man out, blah blah blah."
I think actually the only downside that it's a girl is that I kind of want to see how Scarlett would've interpreted the ultrasound of a baby boy . . . ;)
Love you guys. Can't wait to figure out some version of the future where I can see that sweet baby girl and your big big big other girls!!!
And one of the girls might always decide to keep her name. I had a friend whose husband almost took her name instead of her taking his because he liked it better, but at the last minute they decided to go with his last name. So you never know. :)
Does this mean you won't be trying for a boy? Come on be like Aunt Kelly go for 5 congrats
Yaaaay! I'm so happy for you!
I've endured my share of "going to try again" comments - I don't hear that anymore. I think because I look like such a mess all the time, people figure I probably should quit while I'm ahead. Hahaha.
