Totally random and doesn't fit this post.... but I was in a Photoshop mood yesterday, so I made this handout for my YW lesson today (I'm the Laurel adviser).
Our ward has 2 sets of missionaries and this summer we swapped 2 elders for 2 sisters. It had been a few years since we've had sisters, so I was super excited. Well one day I was pulling into my neighborhood after taking the girls swimming - I noticed someone standing on my porch. As I pulled into the driveway I realized it was the sisters. They came around and helped me unload swimming gear and very tired girls. We ate otter pops while they told me that they actually were just tracting and didn't realize it was our house - what a funny coincidence!Since then we've had the opportunity to have the sisters in our home several times. We scheduled a few meals and they would stop by if they were in our area. And a few times they would come use our potty! haha! There aren't a ton of members in our corner of the ward and they told me that the closest member to their investigator's house was either our house or Ziggy Ansah (from the Detroit Lions). And a few times they've come to swing by I'll ask them what they're doing for dinner and decide that it is unacceptable so I make them stay to eat whatever we're having that night (soup, pigs in a blanket, etc). And on more than three occasions they have texted or called me cause they were out and needed directions - I'm their personal google searcher! :-) How did I ever survive without a smart phone?! And tomorrow morning the sisters are coming over to use our shower cause their apartment complex is remodeling their shower! I love when they start a phone call with "we have a random and weird request..." haha! Those are my favorites!
We have loved having the sisters in our home!! They always leave us with such a wonderful message and spirit. Our girls get excited to see them and we've had a lot of good conversations about missionary work. Plus they always are finding ways to serve, sometimes I'd catch them in my kitchen just doing the dishes. Little angels!
We invited the sisters over for a Saturday morning session for General Conference. We made cinnamon roll waffles (just cook cinnamon rolls on the waffle iron). The sisters built a huge fort for us to listen to "King Benjamin's tower". One of the talks said "...prison..." and Scarlett exclaimed "they said prism!" haha! Then when President Uchtdorf came on the screen Scarlett asked "is that Grumple?"
During the Saturday afternoon session Scarlett played "spot my cousin." I also like the photo where the twirls are holding the gears - they picked their name colors!
We celebrated Sister Martin's birthday right before she finished her mission and headed home. Sister Jones said she loves coming to our house cause it feels like home (all the crazy kids running around and my very relaxed "just help yourself" policy). We got a brand new lady - Sister Minoi - straight from Samoa! Here's a beautiful portrait that Sister Martin drew! And we took the Sisters to Chilis right before she left. The girls did great til the end when they were done eating but we weren't done chatting. Jaide and Siena were climbing back and forth under the table then Jaide started crying and yelling "stuck" she put her head underneath the bench - maybe she thought she could fit in the crack - but instead she just got her head stuck. Thankfully the bench wasn't bolted and Jake was able to lift it off her and set her free. But there was a brief moment where we both thought we were going to have to call the fire department and pay Chillis for a new bench seat.
We're grateful for all the men and women who serve the Lord and go on full time missions. I see how lives our blessed and our own lives have been enriched by these wonderful missionaries. We're so proud of Jake's parents for serving in Russia and we can't wait to see them next summer!

And we can't wait, either -- but we have a lot to do between now and then!
Love you YW handout. How about rendering it in Russian?
Sounds like you are having a good time with the sisters. Cassandra is trying to get all her paperwork sent in for her visa for her mission and is really excited, love the art work, yours( body temple) and one the sister drew. Hope you are all well. Grandma
Cute handout!
I LOVE it when we have sisters! I feel so bad with Elders because we can hardly ever have them over, because JC is hardly here. I keep hoping we'll get sisters again on one of these transfers! Looks like y'all take great care of them. :-)
I do not recognize that cousin....so I assume not a mutual cousin?
haha - no cousin from the other side of the family.
Can't wait for Cassandra's mission - she'll be fantastic!
And I wish I knew Russian so I could do that for you!!!
That handout is fantastic.
Ahh forts- hours of fun. I'm always surprised that no matter what age I am I still enjoy the magic of climbing into a homemade blanket fort.
I am so glad that you take the opportunity to serve the missionaries and allow them to serve you as well. What a wonderful opportunity you are giving to your girls to learn to love and respect missionaries and to learn of the valuable service they are giving to total strangers, because they love and know the gospel and want to share that with others.
