September Summary

I'm determined to catch up on our blog!  So here's a long post for the crazy fun month of September...

Scarlett's been amazing in the morning.  While I'm trying to raise my blood sugar slowly so I don't vomit as I get out of bed, she takes some of my snacks (usually club crackers) and goes and feeds her sisters.  They will play for ~30 min before I need to come get them out of their cribs!  Tender mercy!  One morning I walked in the twirls' room and found little naked bums!  Surprise!

Another day Scarlett asked to change the twirl's diapers, I was surprised that they actually let her!  The girls have this thing now where they LOVE to throw the little trash bag full of diapers away in the trash can in the garage - to the point that they will scream and fight over the opportunity.  So I came up with a solution: they could do it together.  It's awkward and takes twice as long for them to maneuver together but at least no one is crying!

The twirls are at the age where they love to be helpful.  They will clean up toys, put their empty cups in the sink, carry their dirty clothes to the laundry basket, etc.  Scarlett has already started taking advantage of this by "training" them to do stuff for her.  She treats them like puppies and they just love it!  haha!  Sometimes she makes them say "gaga googoo" and she holds them and pretends that they are her babies.  So cute!

All three girls drink warm chocolate milk first thing in the morning.  They chug it like a girl on a mission!  There is no taking breaks or getting distracted while they drink their CM.  Well Jaide went through this phase where she would cry and get upset at the end of her CM - Every. Single. Time.  haha!  Like she was afraid she would never have another CM again!  Thank goodness I finally remembered to catch it on video:

We were watching Daniel Tiger and during one segment there was a clip of a black family playing in the park.  Scarlett said, "hum, they're not like me."  I was thinking that she was going to ask about skin color, but then she said "They have a boy kid and a baby brother.  We have a medium girl and two twirls."  haha!  I love the sweetness of little kids.

Just playing around the house...

Playing around the house while "maked".  One day we were eating lunch while wearing headbands as tube tops.  Scarlett said to me "Let's go to dun."  I asked "What's dun?" "That's Spanish for kitchen, of course!"  Of course!  Silly me!

The twirls LOVE LOVE LOVE watching Storybots on youtube.  Scarlett's favorite Storybot song is the Outer Space video.  She loves space!  One day she told me "Let's draw the big dipper.  I'm going to need seven stars."  How does she even know that?!  Now watch this cute video of the twirls rocking out....

Scarlett overheard me saying my phone number to someone.  After she said "you said 'one oh three' but you mean 'one zero three'"  I think my grammar loving mother's heart grew three sizes that day.

Hanging out on Sundays...

The girls LOVE their puppies!

Our nighttime song routine is getting ridiculous!  The girls love the "Circle is Round" song, but mostly cause I make a circle with my hands and they put their arms through and I squeeze them and trap them at the end of the song.  Another song they love is called "Rainbow Puppy", a song of my own invention.  It goes like this: "Rainbow Puppy Star.  Rainbow Puppy Moon.  Star, heart, diamond, circle, square. Rainbow Puppy Star."  The actual verses vary greatly.  But the main formula is just to say words that they are really familiar with - haha!  This is another favorite song, the "Rainbow Colors Song".  Scarlett made us search youtube til we found a song with the proper rainbow colors in the correct order.  Thank goodness we finally found one!  Scarlett likes to help and sing it to the twirls at nap time (and we throw the puppies every time).  See this video....

I finally decided it was time to teach Scarlett to wear underwear to bed instead of a pull-up.  I know that she was probably ready a long time ago, but I just wasn't motivated to deal with the possible mess situation.  But after several mornings of her waking up with a dry pull-up only to pee in it right before getting dressed I decided it was time.  So at first I told her that I would give her a dollar every morning she woke up with a dry pull-up.  It worked for like 2 days til I realized that I don't carry cash and she doesn't really understand the value of money.  So I went to Hob Lob and bought this glow-in-the-dark bead kit that she saw months ago and keeps talking about, then we put it on a high shelf and told her that if she had a full week of dry pull-ups she could have it.  She had one potty accident and then that was it!  We've been pull-up free for almost two months!

While we were working on nighttime training, Scarlett also had like 3 potty accidents during the day.  I think they were related to having a sick mom all of the sudden and not really understanding why.  And also wanting my attention since I wasn't very involved.  So we told her that if she had a potty accident she couldn't ride her bike for 2 days.  She took this very seriously and kept herself honest.  She even reminded Jake "I can't ride my bike today 'cause I had a potty accident yesterday."  After suffering that consequence once she was done having accidents.  Wewph!

Playing outside with Dad...

Jake let the girls play in this huge puddle in front of our neighbor's house, watch their joy (I love how Jaide "rides" the balance bike and Siena's enthusiasm when she yells "all done!"):

Jake saw a 2-liter bottle in our recycling box and immediately decided he needed to make a bottle rocket:

Jake bought a bug zapper for our patio.  It is plugged in right below our bedroom window and we can hear it zapping all night.  I swear I can hear Jake smile each time it zaps another bug!  Sometimes the zaps last several seconds and we know that we got some nasty huge bug!  One time we even found a little frog electrocuted in there!  Oh no!  Casualties of war.

We had fun playing with our friends.  My girls were over at the Sawayas for dinner one day.  I got a text with these two photos from Laura, one where they are all eating and one with Jaide alone and "still going strong!"  That girl loves to eat and eat at her own pace!

One night Jake and I were watching TV and we could hear the twirls jumping in their cribs.  Then all of the sudden we heard Siena start crying - a real cry.  I went upstairs to check on her and she was covered in blood.  She must have bonked her poor nose when she was jumping.  Then like 2 weeks later Jaide woke up with blood all over her face and pillow - but I think hers was a bloody nose from the dry air.  Poor bloody girls!

I put Scarlett to bed one night (after giving her another speech about how she needs to stop peeling her nails, drives me crazy).  I went downstairs and I heard her crying loudly.  So I went back to her room and she said "Mom, I was sneaking out of bed and I hurt my back."  At least she admitted to her shenanigans.  So I massaged her back and she became a limp noodle with her mouth hung open.  It was really cute - like a little puppy.

Another night Scarlett asked "Mom, can I stay up and eat brownies with you and Dad?"  hahahahaha!!!!!  How does she know our secret??

They're so cute!! It is so fun when they want to help. But also, it is so much work! Sometimes I think they're just helping me into an early grave. Hahaha!
