Seaver Stay-cation

Over the past month we've had lots of Seaver Family Fun - all leading up to today.  James entered the MTC today at 1:30 pm. *bitter sweet*  We're so proud of him!!!

My parents planned a Seaver Stay-cation.  What's a stay-cation you may ask?  Well, it's a vacation where instead of hanging out in a crowded hotel we stay at our homes and explore the great state of Utah through various day trips.  We had a blast!  Here's an overview of the many fun things we did!

Hogle Zoo
We got to see the different animals at the Hogle Zoo.  We also went to a bird show, drank ICEEs in awesome fancy cups, rode the train and rode the merry-go-round.  Scarlett tried so hard to stay awake the entire day but eventually she just crashed in her daddy's arms.

Shooting
Next we found a random spot to go shooting out in the desert.  Jake kindly decorated the power pole with his orange paintballs.  Scarlett didn't really care for the loud shots - even with the fancy noise-cancelling headphones.  James taught us the proper way to shoot (while lounging in a camp chair).  We all had crazy huge bruises the next day on our shoulders!

Sailing
We couldn't let James leave without going sailing!  He was the only scout in his troop to earn the sailing badge.  It was a ton of fun - especially when the wind picked up!  And we only had one capsizing event!

Kennecott Copper Mine
We went out to Kennecott and explored the HUGE HOLE they're digging out there!  They use ginormous trucks to basically turn the mountain inside out!   Scarlett even got to try her skills at the steering wheel!

Temple Square
We didn't think it would be good for James to get to South Carolina and have people in his ward who visited temple square more recently than him (and he was only 40 min away).  So we went up to SLC and got a tour of the Conference Center.  We saw the Joseph Smith movie (awesome!) and after a small picnic we went to Welfare Square where some sister missionaries gave us the full backstage tour.  I can't believe all the great things the church does!  Yea service!  We ended the day at Macaroni Grill with a surprise birthday party for Jami.

Orem Owlz
We finished our stay-cation with an Orem Owlz baseball game!

BYU
Even though James deferred his enrollment for 2 years, Jake and I thought we better start now indoctrinating him on the BYU Cougar ways.  We took him on a campus tour...

Scarlett's Boyfriend
Also, I have to mention that Scarlett finally got to see her boyfriend a few weeks ago.  He's at dental school (USC) right now, so they don't get to see each other often.  In fact, last time they were both in the womb planning their breech tricks on their mommies!  They danced, Parker serenaded Scarlett with the ukulele, they tried to impress each other with their rolling over tricks, and they even went out to eat (aka Courtney and I nursed each other's babies)!  I hope they grow up to be bestest friends like their mommies!

What a cutie! I love all your baby pictures. And I'm so happy for James!!! How exciting for him. Two years will be over before anyone knows it. And, Jenny, did you ever consider that Scarlett's boyfriend might actually be 5 or 7 already? Just a thought, because, I mean, isn't Jake older than you? My husband is older than me, most of my friends' husbands are older than them. :)

What an awesome 'staycation'. Of course my favorite pix are the ones with Scarlett in them. She is (as Aunt Ara used to say)"too cute for words".
I put her pix up in our family room yesterday so now our wall is complete.

What a fun summer!

I'm not sure she should be dating yet... :-)
