Sweat Dreams

7:30 pm - 1/2 the power went out in our apartment (no TV, Internet, bedroom or living lights, and worst of all - no Air Conditioning) - called the power company and they said it would take ~3 hours to fix
10:30 pm - decided to go to bed (80 degF and super humid without A/C - but we used an extension cord for our floor fan from the working half of our apt to our bedroom)
12:00 am - woke up to LOUD and TORRENTIAL rain, BRIGHT GREEN lightning, and BOOMING thunder
1:00 am - smoke alarm started beeping like crazy, the battery was dying, it used a 9V - which, of course, we didn't have a spare - so we took the battery out - hoping that would solve the problem
1:15 am - the fire alarm started beeping again (back up power?), so Jake finally dismantled the fire alarm (we needed sleep and it was SO LOUD - and we still had 2 other fire alarms in tact in our little apt)
3:00 am - all the power shut off in our apt, NO FAN - soooo hot and sweaty
3:30 am - power finally came back on, TV and lights turned on - had to get up and turn everything off - but we finally got A/C so it was tons more comfortable
7 am - woke up after only 3.5 hours of good, uninterrupted sleep

... needless to say we were very tired at work today

(I know all you parents with small children have no sympathy for us, but you have to understand... we're used to getting 8+ hours of sleep every night - so it was a rough night for us)

Oh - PS - Happy Birthday to Jami!!!

Yup, no pity here, sorry. My little alarm kept sounding every 20-30 minutes last night. Unfortunately, you can't dismantle her. At least I didn't have to go to work today. I feel for you there.

What a crummy apartment. You should move.

I am full of sympathy for you - nothing like hot, humid weather to ruin your sleep. Hopefully things are better, now. For awhile I would have no power every evening/night. ANNOYING. :-)

You guys need to watch the Friends Episode "The one where everyone's up all night" where Phoebe can't stop her fire alarm from beeping and she goes completely insane by the end of the night. It's hilarious, and perfect for your experience.

I guess now you know to not stop paying your electric bill until AFTER you move. :)

(Sleepless nights are no fun, though I would have enjoyed the lightning storm.)

So, uh, did you make it out to Utah ok? Find a place to live? Drop right off the face of the planet?

Yeah....thought so. :-)

Hope all is well!
