For our 1st Anniversary we went to the Boston Aquarium...
Jake eating a hot pepper (they were so dang hot!) We saw a 3D IMAX movie... about a feeding frenzy in Africa.
The sharks swam in this HUGE column-tank that was in the center of the building. It had a ramp that spiraled around it, as you climbed up you could see the different kinds of fish that live in various levels of water pressure. There was wing dedicated to jelly fish, that was my favorite exhibit.
Around the many tropical fish, they had black lights!
This is how we stack up against a little shark.
Seeing as it was our Anniversary, I noticed everything around me that had to do with love. These are a few examples: 2 South African Penguins kissing (Jake's favorite exhibit), this fish's mouth is in the shape of a heart, and 2 Macoroni Penguins holding hands! (fitting as penguins mate for life)

Most people freeze the top of their wedding cake to eat on their first Anniversary. I thought that was gross. But I also knew we would be moving a lot, so we decided to eat it when it was fresh (good thing, I don't think frozen cake would last long in a Budget truck driving across the country for 3 days!) So we decided to replicate it... and as you can see that didn't go so well. When we were trying to frost over the chocolate cake-raspberry filled mess, the white frosting turned pink. Then I tried to decorate it by cutting a hole in a sandwich bag, and as you can see, the small hole I cut turned out to be quite a large tip for decorating. So after many vain attempts to save our cake, we just threw on the extra frosting (I made a bunch of hearts that, according to Jake, look like Wolf heads). The only important thing was that we had fun and it tasted delicious!
Other food things...
PF Chang's - So, according to our list of traditions to start, we were going to go to PF Chang's for dinner (we ate their on our honeymoon). But it was a 3 hour wait, so instead I made pasta!
Crunchy French Toast - On our honeymoon we ate crunchy french toast - which was so delectable! I found the recipe (it uses Corn Flakes) and made it on Sunday Morning (our real Anniversary). The only bummer is that we couldn't find Texas Toast. Flimsy white bread doesn't do justice to this breakfast dish... but it was still really good!
At the Boston Harbor. We've had a blast this past year. People said the first year's really difficult, but it just seemed so natural. We were meant to be together. He's my everything. I love him so much and look forward to the many more Anniversaries in the future.

Congratulations! I'd eat the cake... :)
You guys are so cute together Jen! Hope you don't mind me peeking at your blog!

Congratulations! It looks like you had a fun anniversary.
I am so glad you two have each other. I couldn't stand the thought of you moving away for a job if you had to be alone. It makes me happy to know that you are with someone who loves you as much as I do- probably more if that is possible.
Love, Madre
Foofer,
No, I don't have the coat, but I hope that you find it. It's way too cute to lose- Dang snap! Congrats on making it one year- doesn't time fly?
We haven't seen your coat either, but we still need to check the Bermuda Triangle.
I'm glad that you both have such great senses of humor, it really does minimize disappointments and difficulties in marriage.
Congratulations!
Congratulations! Have you considered professional cake decorating? No? That's probably good. J/K, it looks delicious!
Congrats! Sounds like you had a great anniversary. Good for you for celebrating it - we've never really done anything for Valentines or our anniversary. Maybe we should start a new tradition and celebrate!
Pretty please post the crunchy french toast recipe on your other blog - I'm not a breakfast person and I'm always looking for something new to try. :-)
The recipe you've all been dying for!
