All our belongings are currently en route to Michigan. A company came last Monday and picked up the Durango. Then last Thursday the packing company showed up. It was a crew of 2. They boxed up our entire home in 6 hours. We weren't allowed to do any prepacking (I was *so bummed* about that).
We weren't allowed to take any aerosol or flammable items. And any open container that looked leaky, gooey, or gunky had to stay behind as well.
Then on Saturday the actual moving truck showed up. The first ~2/3 of the truck was someone else's house, our stuff filled the back. Every single item (box or random belongings) had a yellow sticker on it so they know it belongs to us.
This little guy just walked in our apartment one evening. Luckily our neighbor came over right then and the 3 of us wrangled the bird out (though it took a good 20 min). It couldn't fly, but it sure did like to hide under the couch, behind the washing machine, in the corner, etc.
During the packing we found 2 expired epi-pens in a junk drawer. Jake thought it would be a fun idea to play "Epi-Darts". The epi-pen has a needle that is spring loaded if you hit the black tip. So Jake went first and threw it toward the fence - as expected, the needle popped out and made for great fun. Then it was my turn... as my epi-pen was flying toward the fence it flipped a 180deg and the wrong end hit the fence... the spring release the needle and propelled the protruding end right back at me! I dived out of the way and narrowly missed getting stuck by it. Though there was a small casualty on my forearm. Bits of blood and epinephrine were everywhere! Only at that moment did Jake and I look at each other and think: "maybe this wasn't such a good idea". What did Jake do next? He picked up the epi-pen off the ground and threw at the fence! When I told this story to my mom - she was really impressed at her "rocket scientist" kids. Then she said... well, I think Jake won.

Someday, Scarlett is going to be shocked that her parents did things like this. I mean, so non-parental... ;)
But totally gives me interesting ideas for what to do with my expired epipens...
Isn't it crazy to watch your house be packed? It takes forever to pack it yourself, but they can just cram it all into boxes in no time. It does make for some pretty ridiculous unpacking adventures. On one of our moves, we had the remote in one box, the Tivo in another box, and both halves of its cord in two other boxes. Took forever to dig around and find it all!
