Internship
Luckily he hasn't spent all his time making big purchases... this summer Jake's been doing an internship at IM Flash in the Supply Chain department. We're so grateful that he was able to find an awesome internship close by so we didn't have to move this summer (such a tender mercy!)
He developed a new tracking system for Intel's high priority NAND memory chips. The company is in the process of implementing his new system! Yea Jake!
The interns had a t-shirt design contest to make their summer internship shirts. Jake won!!! He's not sure if they'll actually make his design but he won a $25 visa gift card. So talented!
Daddy
Jake is such a great father! Not only does he take great care of Scarlett, but he also takes great care of me!
I don't know how he does it, but Jake is able to teach Scarlett tricks. He taught her to stick her tongue out when she was 3 weeks old. He taught her to play peek-a-boo. He taught her to lift her legs for a game he plays. Yesterday he taught her to stand up by herself while holding onto his thumbs. She just loves playing with her daddy! She is so excited to see him when he gets home from work.

Dirt Bike
For Jake's birthday he got a dirt bike! He's wanted a dirt bike since he was 12 years old. He bought a Yamaha WR426F. He loves taking it out and exploring the Utah desert whenever he gets a chance (which probably isn't as often as he'd like).

Jake loves going on adventures. I think Scarlett has inherited this bug. She gets so excited when we put her in her car seat to go somewhere. And she loves being out doors.
After several weeks home with a newborn baby, Jake and I had terrible cabin fever. We decided to do a day trip down to Moab. We packed up early in the morning and drove down there - Scarlett slept the entire drive! Once we were there we drove through Arches. We even went on a few hikes (the paved, stroller accessible hikes). It was a great way to get out and explore with a new baby.

Jer is also really good at teaching the boys tricks. The tongue game is also popular at our house. There is just something about a daddy that can't be beat. Wait til she's older and you guys hang out all day, then she'll really love it when her daddy gets home.
How fun! I'm so glad you married such a good guy who can take such good care of you and your little family. Good call on that. He's a keeper. ;)
From the photos, it looks like the most useful trick Jake taught Scarlett is to pass out and take a nap on demand! What I want to know is, when is he going to teach her to stand and balance in his outstretched palm? (The grandparents always love that trick.)
And how is it that all my family members are going on these secret trips to Moab and not filling me in on the must-see and must-do activities down there? We're headed there next week!
